They really are a unique experience! I was blown away by the feel of that 21k nib.

You should get an MF nib, it sits in between the fine and the medium. Great writing experience. My favorite size of Sailor nib.

That's a good idea, I will definitely have to try an MF. If it keeps that softness of that M you may have just converted me from my Pilot bias. I just pulled the trigger on my September order so will budget it in for October for sure. Thanks!

How come the ink does not appear red on paper? I recently became interested in fountain pens and calligraphy. I bought the calligrapher's bible off of ebay that came with some nibs. I have one of those handmade pens woodworkers make somewhere but what is a good starter pen for practicing cursive writing?

The ink color doesn't show very well because of the camera I was using to record. Not the best but it's what I had. I've since switched to using my phone which is better but not by a lot. Hoping to upgrade some lights too but it'll be a while, I keep spending my budget on pens. :-D I don't do any calligraphy but I'm familiar with the type of sets you're talking about. The sets look great but the nibs tend to be flat or angled so managing the pen angle and strokes for calligraphy-style writing is a bit too much for my skill-level. Maybe someday but for now I stick with more "round" nibs like a Fine, Extra Fine, and Medium nibs. The fountain pen I started with to practice cursive was a disposable Zebra fountain pen. About $2 and a good Medium-Broad nib with lots of ink in it. After using up a couple of those I wanted to try some different nibs and inks so next was a non-disposable Platinum Preppy for about $6. A great place to start without spending a lot of money. Let us know how it goes as you try more things out!
