I’m in high school band and me (bass clarinet) and my friend (clarinet) are doing a duet so thanks for the encouragement

I play clarinet and I want to learn how to play these high notes so crisp, but not to stand out. I've only been playing Bb Clarinet for 4 years, but I think if I put enough time into it, I can get really good one day
@whitneycope54526 жыл бұрын
iceflare it takes lots of time and practice, as well as proper equipment. 4 years may seem like a long time but there’s still SO much to learn! :) one day you’ll be playing high notes so amazingly without even thinking about it. Just be patient and keep practicing :)

I’m going to play this for solo and ensemble this year with my friend and I hope it’s not going to be too hard for us (I play bass clarinet and she plays clarinet).... Wish me luck Edit: It's not on the list of music you're allowed to play for solo and ensemble (at least where I live) so we are instead playing it at our spring concert. We have it mostly learned and have to work on the awkwardness of some parts, the cleanness and the tempo.

Question: does moving around like that while playing the clarinet mess with playing in anyway?
@hleth48889 жыл бұрын
in terms of duets and such, is generally used as a reference to tempo. However, many individuals will also move about simply out of habit or instinct.

Isaac Soto I'm no expert but I know it for sure messes with embouchure but some people aren't bothered bothered by it and adapt. For example, on sax I use non-stretchy neck straps unless I'm playing Bari because they can mess with embouchure too by letting the sax move too much. On soprano clarinet I don't move that much, and on bass I use a peg so it's sort of hard to move, I just wear a neck strap on bass to prevent me from dropping it 👌🏼😂 (either a random tenor/alto one or even just a lanyard I'm just terrified of dropping my baby) I did try playing with a neck strap on bass to see if I liked it for about a week and hated it! It messes up my embouchure so bad! So I guess the moving around is a preference but it's true that it has a purpose, especially in group playing
