As a tattoo artist for over 30 years one thing I dislike about this show is its partially to blame for the current culture in tattooing. I never disrespted another artist and certainly never spoke badly about any of my clients

@@GMarie. Dont let it dissuade you this isn’t an accurate depiction of the real world. Sure there’s some rude/nasty artists but you’re going to find that in every professional field. If you want something just do your research look for consistency in their past work and you’ll be good to go. You can meet your artist first and decided if you vibe with each other waaaay before they even touch your skin. ❤

I actually just got one and the artist was the nicest man. it was my first one so he was very reassuring and asked me to make sure everything was the way that I liked it because "it's on you forever, i want it to be perfect" he was really great and I'm going to get another one done by him!

Austin’s lines were gross and the way he packed the colour in was worse. It was a bad judgement and I really wish Stacy had been pulled through. Would have loved to see more of her work

Literally how does Matt not get torn to pieces when they were JUST bashing the anatomy of that koi. Her face is FLAT and you're saying that he's up in running with Jimmy? I think not. This show really gets on my nerves with how they'll attack one person for barely noticeable anatomy mistakes and then the next person won't even know what a skull looks like

The only issue I noticed with the fish is that the scales could use some shading, but no normal person is going to give a rat's ass about that. I'd wager these judges are a case of "people who don't realize how little their art is going to matter putting themselves on a pedestal."

The orange koi in beginning (if that's what you mean) had no depth around edges. It was flat and looked like a children's coloring book. Even worse the dorsal fin on back wrapped around to side of fish at bend which made no sense.

It's not a soft colab.. It's 100% a collaboration. In the real world, if an artist doesn't like what a potential CUSTOMER (not canvas!!) wants you politely tell them no and why and try to work something out. If it clear that it's not a match, you politely part ways. Even if it's because the customers request is utterly ridiculous. Find a politie way to say that. Preferably even be able to suggest other artists that would be willing to do the art.

Even the feedback made no sense. "This isn't just a biomech challenge, it's a biomech skull challenge, you start with the skull!" Her skull was much more well defined. His had no bio skull components.

These people know what they're getting and the nerve to sit there and literally ruin a person's chance at winning because YOU cannot take the pain is shitty. At this point not only is that person getting a trash tattoo they're getting someone out of a competition. One of my fave things about this show is that the "canvas" is frequently happy even though the judges say it's shit. That panther is great.. And she was super happy with it. I get the show is a contest and about winning but career wise, it's more important to have happy customers.

A lot of these are literally the opposite reaction of what I had. Like the biomech skull. Stacey's skull is nicely shaded and you can really tell its a biologic skull that they had modified to add mechanical aspects. that's what Biomech is. Austins skull on the other hand looks a piece of metal in the shape of a skull. It has no biological parts. it just looks like a skull but has no bones. These judges are bad at judging.

Just make sure to communicate with your artist about your concerns and maybe give them a chance to test on another area similar to your stretch marks! If you aren't sure they can give what you want there's no shame in researching and working with another artist

Also I think if Gonzo didn’t get the sternum, he could’ve made it farther in the competition. And also JP shouldn’t have been in the competition as long as he has been. It makes me sad that Stacy thinks that being a Christian somehow means that she's a bad one because she loves tattoos and tattooing and is gay (maybe? So many good tattooers went home simply cuz of their canvases. Not everyone will sit still and agree for the artist's ideas, duh, but you gotta remember that they have 6 hours not only to design but to convince the canvas of their idea. Having them bitching, arguing, having mood swings, and shaking or moving should be an immediate canvas swap. I know that the judges demand the artist to be able to talk to their clients, but there is no time for nurturing their clients.
