So sad that the judges don’t compensate for people who actually had horrible canvases that prevent them from doing their best work. Not the artist’s fault people refuse to accept what can realistically be done in the session. Some artists use the canvas as an excuse for their bad work, but some genuinely got screwed by the cavas

@@sssooo1743 yes but that’s not fair to the contestants. They should ensure every artist gets a bad canvas, because some get screwed over while others have a free ride with easy going canvases. It’s like having soccer players make goals with a ball that’s selected randomly, and some of the balls are deflated. Then they are all judged the same despite having a handicap in their work

Sooo, do they want these contestants to work with their canvas or perform the challenge? Because the canvas is a living sentient being with their own ideas. In reality, more people should just reject their canvases for this show and tattoo themselves if they have the space to do so, that way the canvas can complain to the producers that they didn’t get their free tattoo because it didn’t meet the challenge requirements and the artists can have a tattoo to stay in the competition at the very least.

It is. I think the composition is great, it looks like the fruits on/near the hand are more in the foreground and the papaya and avocado where further back, thus smaller. I don't think it looks off either, it looks intentional.

Also, those young ladies were gorgeous and beautifully dressed but I've been professionally wearing kimono and studying the traditional arts and there were some glaring mistakes that specifically identified them as not maiko.

Beignet actually just means 'bump' and referred to any kind of fried pasty made with choux dough. Beignet has become pretty heavily linked with the yeast dough fried food covered in powdered sugar. It became more popular in the 1950s, and became a staple of New Orleans because of places like Cafe du Monde. There's several different variations of a fried yeast dough dessert around the world, but beignet is probably the most easily recognized besides a fritter in the United States.

As much as the last second change would aggravate me (but hey, communicate with your canvas better while you sketch), that jam jar could have been a golden fricking ticket out of that mess. Short and squat with a narrower bottom hiding behind the sweets, with some dimpling or curves to bounce some newschool ubershiny highlights around, or add some little shapes of the berries and turn the jam into a preserve... So much texture and gloss that could have made the newschool pop...

It shows how biased the judging is at times. Kelly didn’t follow the challenge, not once but several times and was hardly called on it. Then someone else will do the same thing and they’re gone. She’s a good artist, but a one trick pony. All of her work looks the same. Now Ryan is an artist. I used to love watching her in the flash challenges as much as her tats.

man they need to learn to screen their canvases before they come on, because so many of these canvases are trying to get unrealistic tattoos in a maximum of 6 hours and it makes it truly difficult for the artist to do all they can do while trying to satisfy the canvas and the judges. Especially when canvases won’t budge and end up not getting exactly what they wanted and being pissed because of it, when they should’ve known that their tattoo was unrealistic for the challenge. Tattoo artists can decline to do someone’s tattoo at any shop, so they shouldn’t be forced to work with someone who doesn’t want to work with them and just wants the free tattoo

Canvases need to stop with their 'no I don't like that idea' or 'we're doing my thing or you're not tattooing me' crap! This is a FREE TATTOO for a got dang COMPETITION and they need to respect that. Heres that contradiction from the last vid I watched where the judges said Just tattoo. Dont let the style become an obstacle to a good tattoo implying it actually being a good looking tattoo matters more than it being in the confines of their style choice of the day. Here they would rather a bad looking tattoo get through than one that didnt perfectly adhere to their instruction. This show does a disservice to anyone who takes its culture and tries to use it outside this tv show. There isnt a person in the world who would be like Yeah sure the tat of my wife looks more like a walrus but its a photo realistic walrus so Im super pumped since they got the style right!!!

I honestly hate it when the canvas is giving like normal ideas that are in the challenge and not hard to duplicate and the artist is having a super bad attitude about it. I know some of these canvases are shitshows, but the one that wanted anatomical collar bone arm tattoo was being perfectly reasonable. You don't have to make it gorey for it to be photorealistic.

Honestly I really REALLY dislike anything K has done. She has no concept of design or color theory and I think back to the awful pinup she did with the cello and it makes me cringe at her lack of knowledge and skill with simple anatomy or just making things look nice and not stiff and boring. Just a lack of creativity there is sad. I don't know how she ever got that far. I'm sure she's a good painter but her tattoos and designs are just...meh.
