Thanks Karen! I have a similar pen ( platinum carbon) for 6 months and didn’t use bc I thought they forgot to send me the nib thing or tip. I was going to order another one and wanted to see how to put pen together. So I’m watching you and picked up my pen, staring at it and I realized that I needed to take cap off.😂 You saved me from buying a pen and feeling like total idiot. 😂

Thanks for this video. This is my first (and only) fountain pen so I'm a complete newbie as to how to get started. I spent an hour on the JD site and couldn't find anything that mentioned how to get the ink flowing. If you're a veteran, hold off on your criticism and get over yourself. Everybody starts somewhere. It may seem like the most obvious thing in the world, but it wasn't for me.

I ALMOST bought this pen this weekend. I shouldn't have watched this. Because I need more art/craft supplies like I need another hole in the head! LOL! However I think this one might be more preferred over the elegant writer for me! Thanks for the review! :)

I’m late to the party (this video) but have you (or anyone reading this) tried what Jane sells on her site (and did for years b4 getting her own lines of art supplies) as the “Epic Pen”? It’s made by a Japanese company named Platinum and it’s amazing! I’m in the US and was very excited when Amazon started selling them (though they are not branded with Jane’s name). It truly is the Epic pen! Super fine lines, with all of the great qualities of a fountain pen, AND it uses Carbon Ink, which is waterproof!! It’s awesome under watercolors, the Black is very black, the pen is wonderfully weighted (though a little long for some pencil cases). I love it and use it more than my Monte Blanc ($$$$$) pen - and it’s a fraction of the cost (currently USD$8.99 w/Prime Shipping at Amazon and USD$9.44 from Jane)! I have bought 2 for myself and one as a gift and I’m getting another one with a converter to try different ink (though the carbon ink is fantastic!). It’s seems likely that the Inkredible pen was inspired by the Epic pen (the way the Mermaid Markers were inspired by Jane’s Ink-filled water brushes). The Epic pen kind of spoiled me for the Inkredible Pen from American Crafts, but I ended up here because I’m going to give the IP another shot by filling it with Inkredible Ink using the converter. One last thing - the extra Carbon Ink cartridges appear to be twice the size of the Inkredible ink cartridges (I’m a bit curious to try one in my Inkredible pen, as it looks like it might fit, but I don’t want to waste it...). And then there is a whole world of dip pens, but that’s a whole ‘nother story, lol! Maybe I’ll get up the nerve to do my own videos at some point....

Regina Rooks Not true. You can use permanent ink providing it does not contain shellac. You need to look for permanent fountain pen ink.

The ink cartridges that ships with the Inkredible pens is all water-soluable and not "permanent"--even the black ink. The ink cartridges that ship with the "Epic Pen" (which is nearly impossible to find in the US) IS permanent and not water-soluable once it dries. But those cartridges do not work with the Inkredible pens, because they are a different format. The Inkredible Pens use a "Standard International" cartridge or converter, and the Epic Pens use a Platinum Cartridge or Converter (it is actually just a re-branded "Platinum Carbon Desk Pen) If you want to get waterproof inks for your Inkredible pens, there are a LOT of brands of fountain pen inks that are appropriate, and you ca use them with the Converter that comes with the pen. My favorite waterproof black ink is Platinum Carbon ink, because it is REALLY black, and formulated specific for high-end fountain pens, so it won't clog or mess up your pen. DO NOT use "calligraphy ink" or acrylic inks like FW Acrylics, or India inks in fountain pens. They may catch your eye in a store, but they are only for "dip pens".They will ruin your fountain pen...

I have no idea! It was over my head so I just use the ones it comes with. I actually love the watersoluble ink it comes with it so that's what I use (that and I think I lost the directions it came with).

Hi Bridgette, You don’t fill the empty ink cartridges. The pens come with a “converter” (hopefully you saved everything that came with the pen! there are also 2 extra black ink cartridges!) The converter is about 2.5” and is black plastic with a clear receptacle. I’m trying to figure out how to use it myself, but I think the idea is that it snaps in like a cartridge, then you put the nib of the pen into the ink you want to use and slide the plunger lever on the black end until it fills with ink. It’s at 1:51 in the video. I’m going to take the plunge (pun intended) and try it out! I’ll reply and let you know how it went. Now to choose an Inkredible Ink color (except yellow or orange, since for some reason those colors don’t seem to be available in the US... why?!?! It’s driving me nuts! I bought “all” 12 colors online from Michaels but I didn’t notice until I opened them all and swatched them out that there was no Yellow! It’s a primary color! I’d really like to mix greens and oranges - as well as using yellow - but the only places I could find to buy them are from Jane in Australia or a couple of other sites in other countries....so frustrating!). Anyway, hope my posts help!!
