This is awesome. I dabble in inkscape and needed a flowchart. Didn't cross my mind that I could use it. Solved my problem in minutes.

This is a nice tutorial. At 7:46 you say that you "make sure that everything has a pair axial connection". But you didn't say how to achieve that. You clicked somewhere up and left, but my version of Inkscape doesn't have that button there.

you didn't address the main issue, which is when you want to add arrows to the connectors, the arrow goes inside, and behind the symbol. you aren't supposed to raise what your going to use, basically the main feature that this video is about, is not working properly

I am very thankful to you for such marvelous video about flow chart, i got much help from your video, Thanks.

is there a way to connect the connectors to the edges of the objects? the connection arrows are still missing and I already got super excited to see how you gonna do it since just setting the endpoint of the connections to arrows will not result in the wanted behavior.

You can use the normal connections first, then draw a stroke with an arrow on the endpoint and align it to your symbol and connection. You can then group these objects so that they are one. Let me know if that helps with what you are asking.

@@ericbredder9015 even though this is a ciable workaround, the change of geometry of objects is not supported. I really wish there was some way inkscape would detects intersections and add markers on this calculated point.

At 7:10, you don't need to align your objects before you connect them. In the align / distribute window, you should select the option to align items to the first selected instead of the page. That way you can align text with their rectacles without moving them to the center of the page.

How did you get the arrows at the end of the flow chart connectors?
@ericbredder90157 жыл бұрын
Jungle Rhino under the Fill and Stroke tab, Stroke Style -> Markers

Since the lines connect to the middle of the diagram box, and get hidden below, the arrows are not visible. You'll notice your finished product has this same issue, but the image you are recreated has the visible arrows.

Just use page up and page down to raise or lower the boxes- alternative go to Object ->Lower. I also don't have a fill for each box.

Eric Bredder Sorry but that's not what I meant. Let me try and be more specific. In the block diagram you are recreating (timestamp 0:06), you have arrows between blocks (between thermostat controller and furnace fuel valve, for example). How did you do this? Did you manually add arrows that do not dynamically update? The flow chart at the end (timestamp 14:27) does not have these arrows.

The original flow chart was pulled off another website. You would have to draw a vector and add a marker manually. You could also just group a single arrow to the incoming side of the block so that whenever it updates the connections, the entry point is an arrow. Does that make sense?

hey what if I want white blocks? how can I Change the color of the blocks ?
@ericbredder90156 жыл бұрын
You can change any of the symbols by selecting your symbol, then Object -> Fill and Stroke, move to the fill tab and pick the color you would like. You can also select them all (Ctrl+A) and change the fill all at once if they are the same color.

I wish you would slow down when selecting buttons. I had to stop and back up several times.

The video is quite useful. However, in the begining, there is a control scheme with oriented signal flow, that You try to re-create. Without signal orientation this kind of scheme does not make sense, in the end I was a bit disappointed.
