i worked in web from 1996-2013...gave it away for 10 years. Forgotten everything I once knew. My brain is fried at 57. I know these features existed in Freehand and Illustrator years ago. Thank god for Logos By Nick :) I'm doing a deep into Inkscape, which looks like an excellent tool. Its not a design course, but my pride won't let me hand in any old crap..its gotta look good. so I'll be watching lots of these vids.liked and subbed, and thanks for the resources.

Nick, I have watched and watched and watched this video trying to get the text inside the circle like you did in this video. Yesterday 1-9-22 I FINALLY saw that you kept both the circle and text selected then hit flip, and it worked perfectly! Thank you for doing all the videos that you have done.

Please keep it up Nick👌 At minute 3:10, to perfectly adjust the rapped text, just make sure to align the text to the center (not to the left nor to the right), before putting the text on to the path. Then deselect everything, select the circle and rotate it 90° clockwise. Tadaaa!!

Brilliant tutorial! Would be nice to rotate the text instead of the circle because my circles are just pizza slices, would have to create another transparent circle which radius is connected to the source pizza:)) so I`ll take a look at your playlist:)

I know this video is a little old but, this is a good example of how "Knowledge" transcends time. I needed to wrap the text around an object to create templates for laser engraving wooden coins and ornaments. It worked great and I look like a hero thanks to you. I'll be doing a KZbin video of laser engraving and there will be a shout out to you. Keep broadcasting!!

If you don’t want to finalize the text because you may want to alter the path or the text later, you can make the path invisible e.g. by setting fill and stroke to none. So you don’t lose the path and your text remains editable! But how can you find the invisible path when your design has become more complicated? No problem: select the text and press Shift + D. The path will be selected and you can set a temporary stroke colour to work with it. Shift + D is labeled "Select Original" in the menu (Edit - Clone) -- I think it’s nice that it doesn’t only work with clones but also with text on a path. :-)

I highly recommend supporting Logos by Nick by purchasing the Inkscape, GIMP, or other tutorials available in the Master Course modules available at a reasonable price! Thanks Nick, Based on the fact that you have provided such an extensive library of very well made, and free of charge KZbin educational videos covering Inkscape, GIMP, and other apps, I did find it a pleasure to support your efforts by purchasing your Master Course Bundle, which I have found very useful in gaining a little bit better knowledge of the various graphics design apps that you cover in your various You Tube videos. In addition, it is a great help to have a little more personal access to "picking your brain" regarding a specific question or concern I might have as I learn to use these awesome open source applications. Thanks for all your help and for continuing to produce such quality training and tutorials without solicitation whatsoever. Keep up the good work. Jeff Robarge Tucson, AZ

You can duplicate the first circle then add the bottom text to this path but move the vertical kerning on the text to the top. It will then fit like the top text when you flip the circle.

If it helps anyone I found that with the CTRL+SHIFT+T text editor there is a percentage value for position along an attached path. So to achieve an exact placement to the top or bottom of my circle I was able to set that value to 75% and 25% respectively, with the text set to align centre (which can be set with the top bar menu when you have the create and edit text tool (F8) selected.

Thank yo very much for this tutorial! It is exactly what i need. Another question: how to put the text below the circle in correct reading direction as you did with the words"AROUND A CIRCLE" in the title of this tutorial?
@beninua5 жыл бұрын
He actually showed that in the video - if you are capable of a little deduction yourself. Did you see how he inverted horizontally to make the text align to the inside of the circle. Well what you can do now is make a circle that is bigger than the first circle and align them with the alignment tools. Now let the text you want at the bottom of the original circle follow the outer circle instead. Then flip horizontally and voila the text is on the insid of the outer circle but still on the outside of the inner circle (because it is smaller). Now it is a simpe task to shrink the outer circle until the top of the letters on the inside of the big circle meets the outside of the small circle, just like the bottom of the text that meets the circle with the bottom part of the letters already on the circle. Again just unselect the text, and rotate the outer circle until the text is aligned the way you want. Convert the text to path and delete the outer circle (remember to adjust the letter spacing first to make the text on the inside of the circle look nice). Simple as that.

@@beninua This is the answer I needed. Would have been great to see that in a video. Inside Gimp it works differently which is where I normally do it, and didn't realise I would have to do it this way in Inkscape. Thanks for the video. Has helped a lot.
