@@saultoons Thank you! I also have some questions that I hope you are able to answer if you don't mind :) When I got to the part where I had to use the magic wand tool, I had created 2 groups like you did in the video and I flattened both, but when trying to select a color it instead select the whole square with the donut in it. I tried changing tolerance and contiguous but that didn't seem to do anything either. What am I doing wrong here? Also, what would you recommend when making pixel art? Keeping as much as possible on one layer or seperating layers with color, lineart etc? Cause I tried making lineart on one layer then making a new layer with color but when trying to use the paint bucket tool it just colors in the entire thing, is that because I need to make sure the lineart layer is the top layer? :)

I just wanna formally say for anyone joining in now, there are a few things changed a bit. Main thing is you need to go to view settings to turn symmetrical settings, then reset the lines on the 3 sym buttons to see them. And also, writing this at about 15:50 in, you can see he painted the green donut with the paint bucket. Tested myself to see he meant to say, turn continuous ON in that situation so it doesn't leak to the stray pixels. Thats how it worked for me, so if it goes the way you dont want, then alter between the settings. Okay cool time for bed I pulled an all nighter to learn this
@saultoons Жыл бұрын
Hi! To clarify, at 15:50 I'm demonstrating how you can change all instances of one colour on multiple donuts with contiguous turned OFF. I change the colour of the pink in the first donut of batch 2, and the colour of the pink in the last donut of batch 2 with one fill. Perhaps this was not the area you meant, and your timecode is off? Either way, it is shown as intended and I hope I could clear up any confusion. Thanks for watching :)

This was really helpful!! Got my first job a while ago involving making pixel sprites for a game, and although I was confident in my drawing abilities, I had no experience in pixel drawing. This was such a clear video and made pixel art a whole lot less scary and daunting. Thank you so much :) ❤

Hi again, I'm the boy from Mexico, I don't know if you remember me, I just downloaded aseprite and I was half confused because the programs I used to cook were simpler but thanks to this video I already understand the app, it continues like this

Now I'm thinking of switching from programming to pixel art and 2d game dev because of this video 🙂
@saultoons2 жыл бұрын
Haha why not both??
@BekBrace2 жыл бұрын
@@saultoons maybe both, but i reckon it will be difficult to concentrate on two arenas in 100% - you know what i mean ? I've been always wanting to create 2D pixel video games [ that's what got me ino programming 20 y ago! ] / Time will tell 🙂

really funny how donuts was used to an introduction to this program (much like the blender tutorials as well) haha nice intro to aseprite!
@saultoons2 жыл бұрын
Yeah the blender donut tutorials by blender guru were a huge inspiration for this! Donuts are the perfect shape for a tutorial, not too simple or complex 😄

@@saultoons haha exactly! I'm surprised it worked so well in explaining how to use aseprite as I've only seen donuts used in a 3d context haha. good work!

Really well delivered and precise. No bull. One of the best tutorials I've seen. You should do tutorials of more stuff. Anything.

I wanted to use Aseprite in a casual way and wanted some good tutorial. I tried some but they were more intimidating and confusing than I wanted but you sir are the one that made me motivated into making some sprites. Your video was honestly very informative, straight to the point, and pleasant to watch!

I just got Aseprite. I watched your videos beforehand and while using it, following along. Thanks for making them! Big help! I have made some neat stuff by using your advice and just exploring the software. I've been doing traditional and digital art for a while now and once my friend recommended Aseprite, i was determined to expand my toolset with pixel art. I'm having so much fun. Once again, thank you for making these videos for those of us ready to venture out into new artistic territories. Soon, I'm going to make my first animation as well. I'm inspired 100 fold.

really nice Tutorial :D I like that you went into detail on how to navigate through this, oftentimes people just give you tips on how to draw well and not what all the shortcuts are

You are such a great teacher though< I'm new here and just getting into all of this but the simple way you explain things and the exercises you give to help us fully understand and practice the concept is so great. I feel like you're myt favorite youtube university lectrurer.
