Inkscape - Convert PDF to SVG

When you added the red background, how did you make your pdf come to the front of it? Also, I import my pdf and it always imports it in three sit sections. It's so weird. So the pdf file will have 3 lines and the image is actually split in 3 sections.

Is it normal to have to "ungroup" a pdf a bunch? Is there a command that completely ungroups everything? I have been pressing the icon/command a bunch and the number is getting larger?

It really depends on how the file was created. They could've created a bunch of smaller groups, then grouped some of those, then grouped some of those, etc. That's why you're getting more and more groups even though you're ungrouping. I don't know of a way to just ungroup it all at once. Sorry! I just select all and ungroup until it doesn't say that there are still groups.

That really had nothing to do with Inkscape. But you can use Adobe Acrobat Pro. That’s what I use.

I am trying to convert from PDF to SVG to send to my cricut to print and cut.. I've followed all of the steps and Cricut says it is unsupported

I am trying to convert PDF to svg for the cricut and when i do up load the image it states that it is unsupported .

Terry Blackburn did you double check that you are uploading the SVG?

In Inkscape, make sure you are saving as a plain .svg not Inkscape .svg

Good vid thanks. Problem is when I tried to submit the svg to the printer they will not accept that format. They will take vector artowrk as ai, eps or pdf. Is there a way to convert to eps or pdf and maintain it as a vector? Thanks!

If you already have the PDF, I would think that you would just send it to the printer in it's original format. There would be no need to convert it to an SVG and then right back to a PDF. This video is more for those who are trying to create a cut file to use with their cutting machine. Hope that helps!

Unfortunately It was a raster PDF not a vector PDF. So after converting to svg in inkscape I found the printer would not accept it. So I needed to convert it back to PDF but in vector format this time. Thank you

You did not show how to save as a SVG. All other info was great. I am new at this and have no idea where to do any of the functions. You broke each part down great and then you just said save it as a SVG.

You would need click the “save as” button at the top and pick a file name for it like you would with any design you create.
