This is so cool. Could you show us how we would go about creating realistic looking hair strands for illustrations with Inkscape? We're in 2020 and you're in the year 3035 with your skill level.

Thank you, this is helpful. Tip: You should always group a shape before cloning (yes, in a group with 1 member for the time being), thus being able to not only modify the shape of the clone original, but even adding more objects to it if needed! All clones will be affected immediately as shown in your video. Doing so, you could later add a smaller second star shape to the first one for example.

Very clever use of Inkscape tools. I wonder if/how the parts (branches) of each letter could be merged rather than just sit in front or behind each other.

thanks for the comment. I don't think the effect would be possible if we merge all the parts, cause they will then have only one color gradient.
