Nice tutorial and explanained well despite colour conflict! I love blue and green! You gave a few crucial clues as well about nodes. I am learning from this. Thank you.

Hi, Thanks for the video. What would you do in that case if you wanted to keep the background of the image but delete the butterfly?
@HerbBurnah12 жыл бұрын
3:48 is the part that is the most important. Try using the bezier tool to trace then watch 3:48 and follow the step where you hold down SHIFT and highlight both the IMAGE and the TRACE. Then do what he does and go to OBJECT and select CLIP and SET. That should work I had the same problem at first because I forgot about that part.

Nice tip. I create book covers and I need to remove backgrounds almost all the time. Thank you!!
@newbiecrafter10 жыл бұрын
Thank you - not really sure that Inkscape is the best programme for doing this- however since it can I was asked to show how it could - and happy if it helped your projects

newbiecrafter Actually I used to make covers with Corel Draw and Corel Photo Paint, but I am migrating to Linux (Ubuntu) and Gimp + InkScape do the job quite well. And a nice tutorial like yours is a great help!

I really need your help on this one. I have managed to do the registration marks and different layers, but when it comes to cutting out I don't seem to have the export option in my Inkscape? Please help me. Everytime I try printing using the Craft Robo it is about 5-7 mm out (Down and left)

Hello, what I do is to click and drag on the line between the nodes to create the curve effect. The nodes are set to be a corner until the line between them is altered from a straight line to a curve. There are also node change options in the tool bar which are visible once the node editing tool is selected. If this is not clear please email me and I can send a sample file for you to see best wishes

thank you for the video, i have a question, If you have an image that has a hole in it, say for instance a car tyre and you want to remove the background that is showing through the hole in the middle...... how do you clip that out? if you try it the same as the video, you end up with just the background in the middle of the tyre and the tyre gets clipped out. i hope i explain myself well enough. Thank you

HI Ben - please forward the image you are trying to use to myrequest@btinternet.com I will happily take a look and try to answer. I am manically busy at work just now so do not have much time to check in on these videos. Personally I do that kind of editing in Photoshop but was asked if Inkscape could do it and hence made the video but happy to try to help your file.

Whenever I follow these steps, the image is always on top and moves when I drag it. Even after I set the nodes lines to be on top, I can still only drag the image instead.

I tried to cut my image and my paper gets torn when set on 3 and I have card stock. Also, I am finding hard to get my image just right during your process. I have a silhouette cameo. I wish I knew what I am doing incorrectly.

Whilst I agree most photoshop is a fabulous programme - it is also very expensive whilst Inkscape is free - for many crafters that is the better difference

if i open the layer tab (2:44), i can´t see my layers; there is only the button to add a new layer. where can i find the missing symbols for the first two layers? :(
@jimh61894 жыл бұрын
Once I figured out what to do, I realized this could have been a 30 second video. 1. Outline - doesn't even have to be a bevel- maybe you have a circular object to outline 2. Shift select to select original bitmap and outline 3. Object->Clip->Select *** Done *** Wow, that's the pain of trying to get a quick answer

Hello when you say you managed the entire background image I am not sure exactly what you mean - do you mean you did not manage to cut out the background ? Can you send me the file you are working with to the email shown on the video and I will see if I can help

Hello I am sorry you are having problems, unfortunately I dont have a cameo so not familiar with its quirks, usually paper being torn is either too much pressure or a blunt or damaged blade, perhaps take a look for the website under a cherry tree.com Jin has a cameo and lots of tutorials on using it. Otherwise the Silhouetter forum, hope you find the answer best wishes
