100% agreed! Nick's vector tutorials are the best of this type of any I've encountered, including the ones made for coreldraw, illustrator, etc.

Thank you! Quite the compliment. I think this channel has the potential to reach 100k in due time, but a million seems like a stretch to me. Graphic design, especially Inkscape-related, is a very small niche. Maybe someday though, who knows.

Nick, if it does, it will be because of you and your tutorials, you really are setting the standard. I am honored to be a student of yours.

@@LogosByNick nah don't say it's it's a small niche. We do use and need graphics in general all the time, maybe inkscape yes but it's growing up even some inkscape features nowadays are better than 0n Corel Draw and Adobe Illtustator. Keep it up Nick, your channel is the best when it comes about graphics, logos. Thank you 4 the very high quality tutorials you are a genius and very good at what you do. Thank you once again. Such a masterpiece.

This is wonderful! Thank you for the content you do. Your content has helped me learn how to use Inkscape in a easy to follow way that has elevated my use of the program substantially. I'm still working on learning how the 'paths' work. The biggest thing I have a hard time following is determining when something should be made into a path, and how the different path functions interact such as when I want to take a shape out of a bigger shape, I struggle with making it do what I want. I watched your video talking about paths, but I still have a hard time understanding it. I usually muddle my way through something or find another way to do it, but I imagine using paths functions would be easier some times.
@LogosByNick8 жыл бұрын
I wish I could help further than that, but it's hard to explain. I think you'll understand it better as time goes on and you use the software more. That was the case for me. I don't think I would've understood it in concept back when I first started.

Thanks for your great tutorials. I use them to learn to use Inkscape. Can you tell met what to do when I am experiencing anti aliasing with objects with different colours? Say multiple triangles put together with white line between them. I used snapping tool. Thanks! Inge
@LogosByNick8 жыл бұрын
Hi Inge, this is a problem I often have myself. It's hard to explain the solution by typing. There's a few different ways to work around this. I may post a video about this soon.

I am a big fan of your work, I was wodering how do you put the logos on textures and objects (make them look engraved) like the ones on you website under portfolio segment.
@LogosByNick7 жыл бұрын
I use Photoshop for that. If you search Google for "logo mockup psd" you'll find tons of free templates.

Use the "perspective envelope" live path effect and experiment with different blend modes on the logo fill (e.g., "multiply" works well for white garments).
@ryanstark23508 жыл бұрын
Why are you using 0.48 when 0.91 is out? I just tried 0.92. It has some amazing new tools such as mirror and perspective transforms. You have to compile to get 0.92. Inkscape has come of age now. A really fantastic program.
@LogosByNick8 жыл бұрын
I like 48 better for a variety of little reasons. I've read about version 92 and I'm really excited for it.
@ryanstark23508 жыл бұрын
I'm on Archlinux which is quite good for testing cutting edge versions. I've played with 0.92 for a bit now and some of the new features really advance the capabilities a lot. It also has gradient mesh editing where you can bend objects and paths around with four way colour gradations. I just found out that this is also in 0.91. If anyone wants to try it, just do an internet search for "How to Unlock the Gradient Mesh Tool in Inkscape" and you'll find out how to get it working. However, I can't actually recommend 0.92 yet. I've encountered two major problems. Text spacing between baselines appears to be totally messed up and 3D boxes causes an instant crash but it is great to try these other new features. Text is obviously fairly critical so that's a show stopper for the moment.

Nick! You're a legend, thanks for this. But how do I unify all the strokes and fills so that I can just run a gradient over it and the whole thing blends in union?
@LogosByNick3 жыл бұрын
You'll have to convert the strokes to paths (path > stroke to path,) then you can unify them all (path > union)

Great video! Is there another way to duplicate and paste on an axis; like you did with the dashes at 14:14? That method works well enough but I'd like smaller increments than the snap lock allows. (also it's time consuming). Thank you and keep up the great work!

Thank you for your instruction. I was also wondering if the tic marks added at minute 15:00 could be done by stroke to path? Just wondering if there is a way to multiply a single image to create a design path. I also wondered if the compass rose directional initials could be added by a text to path step.

you mean a Pattern along Path effect? possible, u need to clipboard the stroke u want in a circle pattern n align between outer circle border. Wut I tryna figure is the dash pattern number in 1.3, as its not in this older version
@davidkingsley89403 жыл бұрын
Hello nick. Firstly, I love your videos! Secondly, when I try to take the green triangle and make it the point and union it and the red one, inkscape tells me that one of the objects is not a path. I can't figure out which one isn't nor how to make it a path. Furthermore, how do I get Inkscape to make the rotation more "snappy" like yours? Where when you rotate the box, it snaps twice until you let off the click.
@WillE86 Жыл бұрын
Hi, you probably don't need an answer anymore, but for anyone else who comes across this and has the same problem. In my instance, it was the first duplication that didn't break apart and unionise at 2:40 in the tutorial, which I believe caused the problem in unionising at the later stage. I overcame this by selecting the duplicated object at 2:40, going to Extentions > Arrange > Deep Ungroup. I then used the union tool to... well... unionise them.

Don't you consider making one? Because, I think you can make a pretty decent audience there. Your work deserves much more! As a suggestion, I think it would be super cool that you post a sped-up version of new videos you put up here on Instagram, like a 15s one. When you see that real quick, and what it turns to in the end is fantastic and pretty persuading to follow!

Hi Nick, I've lately come to Inkscape and my copy of the programme is the 1.2 version. I am having issues working along with your Vector Compass tutorial. I've drawn the rectangle and rotated it 45 degrees before selecting the nodes tool then >Rt click>object to path>top node and drag up. Scale down?Rt click>Duplicate>fill Red>move to lower level. When I click the top image and apply a stroke>filled Red. Then >path>stroke to path> break apart> union. The issue is there seems no way of knowing what has happened, If I select the inner shape and attempt to move it up to cover the flat apex the entire selection moves. A bit further along, when after moving the green bit up and selecting the nodes tool there are only three nodes one at the top and the two bottom nodes of the green shape. Deleting these bottom nodes results in the shape bowing outwards and looking nothing like the tutorial. Could it be that my later version is not fully compatible with the version on which the tutorial was created?
