The italian interviewers translated for you: 1) Lou Reed once said that rock and roll saved his life, what are your thoughts about it and could be the same for cinema. Then, in the '80s I saw your paintings, are you still painting nowadays? 2)the old lady in the beginning is creepy (mumbles something) in a way similar to soap operas, especially in the house with the rabbits (sorry, the question is dumb even in italian) 3) i'd like you to answer specifically: at the end of the movie there are some kisses, are those for us the viewers or what? 4) in the movie i saw a depressing view of Hollywood: the story revolves around same character in the past and the present, always same stories and characters, but i saw a positive view, and you renovated the language and the texture of the film, in an experimental way (is confusing even in italian) 5) the guy at the table ask to Theroux if it's possible to survive Lynch or are they connected forever, and if he's been influenced in his new project by him 6) can we replicate a famous pasolini's quote: "the truth is not in hust one dream, but in many dreams", is the cinema todays the only way to explain those many truths?

Brilliant how none of them get Lynches way of thinking towards art and cinema. Loved Inland Empire.

I pity the fool who still thinks Lynch is going to answer their questions about the meaning of anything he’s ever done.

In a world of illusion and dark motives, Lynch stands out as an authentic and humble human being.

Whoever was in charge of filming this clearly thought it was still 1996 instead of 2006 because it looks way older than it actually is. Does every video nearing the age of 20 years start looking like this? Will a video you film in 4k eventually start looking like it was filmed in the 90s?

The problem with doing a Press Conference for a David Lynch films is that there is mostly only questions for Lynch.
@stephenotoole66334 жыл бұрын
Stupid questions from people all trying to rationalise the film

I subscribe to it with every limb of mine:) Somewhere in the middle i thought there should have been an entrance test to eliminate those cringy queries.. Some of them were really pain in the a** :/ Edit: Btw.. English is not my mother tongue, but STILL it is embarrassing not to make an effort to speak the language of an author for whom the press conference is held for. Mite of respect, journalists..
@remingtongagnard44423 жыл бұрын
I didn't get that at all from this conference. Maybe the singular question where someone asked him to "please elaborate" but Lynch shuts that down real quick

"a woman in trouble" and a polish curse? Don't feel bad about not understanding it logically, I think most of us feel that way. Reminds me of Perfect Blue the way the boundaries of reality are destroyed

Speaking of dubbing, I generally agree with Lynch, however... If you're making a comedy, timing is everything. If you're watching, say, Amarcord, and having to look down at subtitles while something is happening in a scene, the timing is messed up. I think that film benefited from dubbing for the U.S. release.
