This song taught me one of the deepest life lessons I will ever know. I was a young boy raised in a family with decent money and I was riding to baseball tourney with my coach and his son, and they were pretty poor. That day, with the help of this song, my coach and his son taught me a lesson that has stuck with me my whole life. No amount of money can pay for those little moments with loved ones, rich or poor, they chose to be happy and Jam this song even though they were going through tough times. Keep your heads up fellows, if you’re unhappy with you’re life, try looking at it in a different way.

Wow, this song is one of those things that you heard a lifetime ago...it’s memorable but not in the way I see it on this day when it hit me 20 years later. It’s been at a slow simmer in my brain and now with life’s experience it hits me loud and clear. I’m surprised people haven’t noticed what I take away from this song? This song is not a “sad song” at all. It’s a song that is cleansing to a horrible situation. “Maybe six feet ain’t so far down?” Anxiety, can be with you at almost every moment. That lyric, kinda convinces me that maybe my perception of a problem is the problem and not the problem itself. And maybe, this “problem” is actually a blessing in disguise that teaches me to have faith. Because you won’t see the “returns” of faith in yourself and the universe sometimes farther down the road...I think this is a song of hope. Not to minimize other people’s “takeaway” but I really think the writer is painting a “it’s not bad as it seems” picture? I think Scott has a lot of insight to self actualization. He touches on this in a similar way on the song, “my own prison.” He says “I’ve created” my own prison. Again, it’s a lesson of hope in the sense that we can conquer these “demons” by taking a step back and looking at things, difficult things in a different way. Maybe an opportunity to build your character in a way you never ever would have been able to on your own. The moon, stars, God, the universe, Alah, whatever your pleasure have different plans to take us to our “true potential” in ways we might not understand at the time, maybe not until much later, maybe not even in this lifetime? I really think this is a lesson of hope and faith. Idk, maybe I’m just a obliviously optimistic glass half full kind of guy lol. Just my humble opinion.

Has been a favorite since it 1st came out. Just heard it after not hearing it for many yes. Always remember its meaning to me at that time & how it saved me. Now at 64 I too see the same in this song as you have so articulately written. When young and defeated by the world I was lifted by this song and survived. Now with life threatening illness & my Dr's trying to tell me how few miles I have left its a blessing I heard it again. It still lifts me but has new meaning and hope for me. It has filled me with strength & hope to endure. Thks for your words

Tammy, so true. There's one thing I've learned in life, by experience. There's only one person in this world you can count on, one person to pull your ass out of the ashes, one person to stand your ass back up to fight again. That person, stares you in the face every time you look into a mirror. There's no one else, trust me on that.

It's funny, I remember getting Creed's greatest hits CD in 03-04. I still have the CD. Every song on it is very meaningful to me especially this one. I listened to it then and I still listen to it now. I listen to songs around those years. Today's music does not hit like the late 90s and early 00s do. My friends would always go why do I listen to stuff that is old? What is the problem with that? Creed has a special place in my heart, their music has some much powerful meaning. I fully have understood that meaning as time has went by. I will still listen to their music as long as possible. It is part of my life. God bless anybody who reads this comment.

Feels like I've been yelling this since this song was new (and before). I'm glad I still have music to keep me holding on. If I didn't believe there's something left for me, I would have let go a long time ago. Sometimes it is easier to wish hope away so we can give up. The real win comes from walking through it and I'm here to say I've been walking for a damned long time.

I remember when I first used to listen to Creed many years ago. When I was younger I was pretty much into hip-hop, but I bought a couple of Creed CD's and never really listened to the lyrics until years later. I just knew I liked them for some reason. The same goes for Live when they released "The Distance to Here". I know I sound old now, but music was so much better years ago. This song (One Last Breath) is great.

@britniegoodman64179 жыл бұрын
They talk shit because despite music being about coming together and enjoying a common interest, people have made it about segregating each other out, and judging people by music; judging the music itself without even remotely understanding that to someone, this is an escape.

True story of how I met this song: I was a huge Star Trek fan growing up. There was a game based in the Trek universe, Armada II. The game itself was ok, but a passionate modding community made it better. One modder redid the title screen, and has this as the background song. It's as far away from Star Trek as you can get, but I was hooked on that song. Whenever I hear that guitar opening, I'm a 15 year old girl again and back in 2005, for just a few seconds. Thank you whoever put this as the background song in a niche Star Trek game. You made my life better.
