I had turned 24 years old in 1982 when Newhart made its debut. Years later when collecting DVDs on this series the main reason I watched it was because of Mary Frann. I had a humongous crush on her. When I heard in Sept. Of 98 that she had passed away my heart sank. I have seen her on other T.V. shows as a guest star besides Newhart.

Mary Frann died from taking too many diet pills. She was in a strict diet for her upcoming wedding when she had a massive heart attack due to taking too many diet pills.

If you go to Angels Stadium in Anaheim there’s a nice tribute to Gene Autry. I remember when the Angels won in 2002 they dedicated their win to him. RIP, Gene!

@@frogger1952, he did get the part about the Colts being heavily favored right, so Ewbank famously led the underdog Jets to the upset win. I think maybe there was confusion because Ewbank was in fact the haed coach of the Baltimore Colts from 1954 to 1962, leading them to two NFL championships along the way long before there was a Super Bowl.

Week Eubank also was the head coach of the Baltimore Colts when they won consecutive NFL championships in 1958 and 1959 in addition to leading the 1968 New York Jets to the AFL championship over the Oakland Raiders and then beating the heavily favored NFL champion Baltimore Colts in Superr Bowl 3. Roddy McDowell also portrayed the villain, the Bookworm on the 1960s Batman TV series. He was also in the horror movie, Fright Night.

You are right about Eubank. This has him the other way around, as he was the coach of the Jets that defeated the Colts in Super Bowl III. BTW, the head coach for the Colts that season was future Miami Dolphins head coach Don Shula.

OMG, I remember watching Bobo Brazil wrestle when I was a little girl, when I was 8 my grandparents started taking me to the matches, I still watch wrestling. Sea Hunt was my grandpa's show, years ago I had read an article that said the family of Martin Luther King Jr didn't believe it was James Earl Ray that killed him. I loved watching Junk Yard Dog wrestle; he was very entertaining. My grandparents used to take my 3 younger brothers and I to Roy Rogers's Museum in Apple valley Calif, we go there either on our way to Calico Ghost Town or on way back. Archie Moore had a beautiful home in San Diego, California, his pool was in the shape of a boxing glove.

Rip Phil Hartman I remember when he died in 1998 and just months before in December of 1997 when Chris Farley died at 33. JT Walsh’s death was sad to as he was height of his career having been in several big hits including Good Morning Vietnam with the late Robin Williams, A Few Good Men with Jack Nicholson and Tom Cruise and as the main villain in one of his last films Breakdown with Kurt Russell.

As a kid no older than 7, I used to watch the Flip Wilson show and I remember him actually having Henny Youngman on as a guest. When Youngman said "take my wife please" I laughed until my stomach hurt. Now at 57 I discover they both died in 1998. (sigh).... Such is life.

I spotted that as well. I loved him in South Pacific. He wasn't gorgeous like Paul Newman, however he had a certain something, and of course when he walks up to Bloody Mary in the crips khaki uniform all tall and lanky, swoon. He died some in 2011 or 12, if I remember correctly.
