Hello everyone,
in this video i show you how to repair your Inmotion RS if you have a 109 or 209 communication error code. the video was very long but i made it as short as i possibly could.
i hope any Inmotion RS user or owner finds this video helpful in the future should you be out of warranty, you wont waste money like crazy buying parts that may not be needed to diagnose and repair your scooter error code.

I think this is the best scooter in the world because you can repair and replace everything in the scooter. If something happens to handlebar you can buy it from a bike shop and replace it easily or you can change the brake pads easily by not dissembling anything

@federaldelii that is very true. In the video im only recommending it to people who already have hyper scooters and know how they work and to others who know how to repair them. I dont think this is a good scooter for people who are buying a scooter for the first time or have never worked on one before. But for me i love this machine.

All of the electrics are proprietary parts, so there's very little in the way of industry parts and connector standardization, which would allow you to buy common electrical parts from anyone. To me that is not an easy scooter to fix, if obtaining these proprietary parts is most of the problem to be resolved to get it working fast again. It's merely relatively easy to maintain, if you have common and easily to acquire consumable parts on hand. Which is a different situation. This design does have some welcome preventative maintenance features though and it is modular. But fixing it is still a major problem for failed non-consumable parts if they are single OEM sourced.

Super expensive though. I think there are many comparables that much less expensive. The prices are going to drop drastically in the next few months.

Hey bro, great video. What exactly was the root cause? You think that one shrink wrapped wire was shorted out? Will watch the full video later when I have more time, sorry if you discussed this. We have extra led strips spliced into our Lite and it's working fine, so I doubt your extra blinkers were part of the issue.
@THEAVERAGEGUY1983
@THEAVERAGEGUY1983 13 күн бұрын
@ScootaGang yeah Inmotion said the same thing. They said i could even connect my Android auto to the front Ambient lighting plug if i want, and it won't have any issues. Im thinking that the front harness wire is what caused the issue for everything. When i took the cable out and opened it up, it was actually unsoldered, probably from vibration from the scooter. There is 1 thing that i think might be causing these motor plugs to melt from getting hot, and i think it's the electronic regen braking. Im wondering if it being set to the stock 50% for the front and 50% for the rear is what is causing them to melt. My front motor is actually making a weird humming sound, but at random times, as if the plastic fender was rubbing, but it's not then randomly goes away again. I checked the plug, and sure enough, the cable pretty much melted from the 3 bigger pins, and 1 of the 3 pins is a dark gray color while the other 2 still have that copper look. So VoroMotors is aware of that as well and are working on replacing the front motor and the harness plug lol. By chance, do you have your regen braking off in the app? Im wondering if that would help prevent the motor wires from melting on your RS scooters. Im just thinking that it's a current overflow issue since the motor wire isn't just receiving power. It's also generating power and plushing it back to the Sinewave controllers, then from the Sinewave controllers to the battery. Just a thought, though. 🤔
@ScootaGang
@ScootaGang 13 күн бұрын
@@THEAVERAGEGUY1983 yeah the regen braking as well as the acceleration settings being lowered would lower the current through the connector. I kind of agree it might be due to regen braking being active when the battery is 84v. Even at full battery the scooter has strong regen so it’s not only a high amp spike, it’s also well above 84v, prob 90+ volts momentarily during the actual braking. You are correct that turning down the regen would prob help reduce that excess braking current that doesn’t really happen during the acceleration side of the equation. Your logic is on point. Maybe they can make a firmware update to limit the regen while the scooter is more full, similar to what Vsett 11+ and super72 does, it could improve this issue, not sure what they can do with the software yet.

🙏🏾👑🙏🏾👍🏾 Hey TAG 1983, That was a Good Video. I just hate to See or hear that a Scooter is somewhere in a Corner Looking Sick. 😔 🙂 I'm just glad you got your Scooter Fix. That's the most Important thing. And Don't let the Comments get you down, That just lets you know who Knows and who Don't Know what they are Talking about. The First Time I saw One of Your Videos I like that you had all the Upgrades on your Scooter, Because I do Upgrades on My Scooter as well. and like Some People the first thing I looked at was your Wiring. and I said He Knows what he's doing Because you had a Separate or an Extra Battery for your Lights and Horn. So I Knew it had to be Some other Cause for the Error Codes. And like me, I like to do my own Maintenance. To Know Why the Problem came and Fix it. This way you Know what goes in your Scooter and What was Taken Out of your Scooter. So Once again Great Job on fixing your Scooter and a Great Video. Thanks for taking us with you and to see you Fix the Problem. 👍🏾🛴🛴🛴🔥🔥🔥👏🏾👏🏾✌🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

@facsimile-io3dd absolutely, im just glad that i recorded pulling out the stock wire while everything was still plugged in. This covered me for sure. Hopefully now ill have no more issues other than the motor wires which have a common issue of melting due to motor wire heat dissipation which could actually be due to the electronic braking automatically set at 50% for the front and the same for the rear. So i turned mine off to do a test on it and see if i can prevent that from happening, lol.

@@THEAVERAGEGUY1983 It sounds to me as if their development engineering team maximized performances, via cutting into thermal safety-margin factors used to prevent thermal failure. So they put the temperature values into display software to put the onus back onto owners to limit how hard and how long they ride it, maxed-out. Personally I'd stay out of the highest power level, especially in Summer, because that will eat into the thermal margins that remain. Obviously it can do it (and was specifically designed for it) at max output, but that's still going to stress and harm itself faster especially up steep hills while carrying high weight--another thing it was said to be exceptional at. Yet everyone looks at the display and thinks, "Oh, that's so cool, the scooter displays cell and controller temperatures, plus detects cell imbalances." But not realizing that was done for specific reasons. Hence a Midnight version goes about 8 km/h slower than the first build of the RS. The Midnight's reported drop in top speed didn't happen for no reason, IMO. It attempts to reclaim thermal margins and improve long-term reliability (which personally I think is a good idea). But to obtain the initial market reputation of great speed and power, i.e. a 68mph claim, they cut back on thermal margin for the early production units that would get tested by influencers. And that worked, it got the company a leg up and the scooter a reputation as a really bad-ass but affordable production 'racing' scooter. Well, I'm glad the resellers did the right thing to get you rolling again. Time to make some riding content, looking forward to it, cheers.

Hi a love your videos I'm curious. Why don't you connect the lights and the Android directly to the scooter instead of using an external battery? Thank you for your time
@THEAVERAGEGUY1983
@THEAVERAGEGUY1983 13 күн бұрын
@gbattah main reason why is because it would cause a current overload and can cause the driveboards to fry if i was to use the Ambient lighting plugs that Inmotion recommended for me to plug in. So i just got 2 batteries. One is a 12 volt 12 amp battery for the Android auto device snd the other battery is a 12 volt 6 amp hour battery for the fog lights as i only use those on my commute to work at night.

@inspiritusanto9214 probably once i get a good amount of days using it just to make sure everything works good and rhe camera footage from it looks good as well. Power wise, it was super easy to do. I just cut the original wire shorter and soldered on a plug to it so it can be plugged into a TalentCell 12 volt 12 amp battery. So i also want to see how many hours i can get out of that battery and how it does in direct sunlight. It's a very expensive unit, at least the one i bought came with every accessory add on minus the OBD module cause the scooter doesn't have that type of plug lol.

@inspiritusanto9214 it does, but the wiring is on the central controller. I dont really want to mess with it, so i use the included GPS antenna for the speed info, etc. The only thing it can't tell me is voltage or temps since it's plugged into an independent battery.

@THEAVERAGEGUY1983 13 күн бұрын
@jeremiahcherry2960 it was set to 60% for the front and 60% for the rear but i recently turned it off and have it at zero because my front motor began to make humming noises during a group ride and when i got home i noticed my cable melted a bit lol. So im currently working in a replacement motor, but the current front motor still works just randomly, which makes noises and feels like something is holding it back from releasing its speed.

Man that scooter is so sick! I’ve been debating on getting a brand new ausom gallop for 1049 or a used inmotion rs with 615 miles for 2000? Right now, I have a kqui2 pro but looking for something with more performance. My biggest concern is I’ve never had to do maintenance and tuning so it would be my first scooter to learn all of this. Any thoughts?
@THEAVERAGEGUY1983
@THEAVERAGEGUY1983 3 күн бұрын
@discernment911 i would go for the Gallop but only because its new. The TS is an awesome scooter but it definitely requires some knowledge to work on it should anything go wrong. But if you are up for itz then the RS would be a Dream to own. You will find your self using it often and feel spoiled with its amazing power that can keep up with cars on the road. I personally love mine.

@@THEAVERAGEGUY1983 Yeah I’ve been leaning more towards the gallop cuz it’s new and has warranty. Then I would spend more money on a nice helmet and gear/upgrades. Of course, I know the RS is the dream machine! I don’t know if I’m ready for all the possible challenges it comes with yet. So hard to decide. Thank you for the response!

What kind of range are you getting on your RS driving at about 35? We are about the same size and most of the "range testing" people do is on a flat track with a 160 pound rider. Want some realistic numbers.
@THEAVERAGEGUY1983
@THEAVERAGEGUY1983 13 күн бұрын
@vitaminKUnit2 hi and thank you for commenting here. i get 40 miles realistically of range from 100% battery to 10% battery but its with stop and go traffic from 25Mph to 40Mph which is in Gear 2 the number i always have my RS in but this is also with my tires inflated to 50psi so the scooter rolls easier lol. The less PSI you have on the RS the less ramge you get but the smoother the road feels. So 45Psi would be the lowest i would honestly go. For me i think it's really a good range. If you ever ride chill like lets say you aren't in a rush to get somewhere and dont mind riding on a bike lane, you can get 60 miles of range going in gear 1 at 19Mph which is incredible! But not realistically safe unless its in a bike lane. This is my 100% honest feedback no BS at my current weight of 292 with gear on like a full face helmet, mt backpack with tools, water jug, knee and elbow pads on. I hope my feedback helps. And your right, the range most scooters brands provide is from super skinny people so no one ever knows what a 200+ lb rider can actually get unless they buy one and try it out.
