Mine fell over at walking speed on my second trip with it, on my second day, and wouldnt switch on anymore. Took me seven weeks to get my money back and have another wheel delivered. One of the longest waits of my life, with four weeks of brilliant sunshine during my yearly holiday wasted.

Nice assessment, Chris! As you noticed, the weight does have an affect on acceleration and braking - this is the trade off for having a huge battery. Lots of riders end up building a fleet of wheels to use in different scenarios. For something a bit more responsive and lightweight / playful, Glide 3 still has relevance.

Fleet of wheels for each rider! Doesn't it sound good? :)

Maybe the response slider isn’t arbitrary and keeping it in the middle is why you don’t get the immediate acceleration you’re stating it doesn’t have. Speedyfeet showed how much impact those modes have.

InMotion, if I ask you for a unbiased comment (I know, odd request lol)... Do you think the Inmotion V10 is better for a skinny young adult, or the KingSong 16s? For me personally, I'd want incredibly good response time. So if I move my foot at all, the wheel would instantly respond. I know this is a rough question! I love both wheels, from the reviews I've seen. I just have to get the right one for me. And inMotion has waaaay more stores to buy from than KingSong.

Range if you're new to these if highly dependent upon terrain, riding style and speed. I can take my NineC+ 20+ miles no problem and it's small, but, that's @ 40% speed 80% on dedicated bike path. High speed 6-11 miles depending upon terrain. I imagine you can probably ride this one 100+ miles if time is not an issue. So in the end it's like driving a car. If you're a lead foot expect to fill up more often. If you're in the city and start/stop all the time, same as a lead foot. Footpads large size=comfort and far less fatigue and won't land you at the Podiatrist with plantar fasciitis and in extreme pain every morning. Safety: Always wear a helmet with chin protection, especially if you're like me and like skateboard parks in the dead of night, hopping up curbs at full speed and hot dogging. Otherwise you'll end up needing $10,000 in dental work or a wired jaw.

"Some negative feedback for the last few weeks on the handle?" NO, the wobble in the handle is there for years since the V5 optional handle, which lock mechanism I suspect V10 simply reuses as is. It is annoying, it feels cheap it has no excuse whatsoever and it does not belong on the expensive flag-ship model as V10F was supposed to be. It wasn't made loose to be easy to put up and down, it's just bad design and manufacturing tolerance. It's like saying that car doors wobble on hinges, but it's just to open and close more easily, or bike front wheel wobbles, but it turns easily. That's just bad design.

Chris, love that you're focusing on PTV's nowadays. I've always been a subscriber here and on WR for years. I like to think I've gotten to know you over the years through comments and viewing your content. Now if I need to get in touch with you privately, how might I go about that?
@danmurphy19946 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure how deep into the PTV market you've delved but this is pretty groundbreaking with the top speed and actual range. Are you running around 50 PSI tire pressure Chris? I believe 80 PSI is optimal for maximum range, acceleration, cornering response, braking response and even collision avoidance. However 50-60 PSI will be a more comfortable ride with little in the way of range/performance sacrifice though I suggest you try 70-80 psi if braking and acceleration seems sluggish.. At a stop ALL the weight of your body and the vehicle is on a tiny area at the bottom of the wheels' tire so it flattens more than similar weight would flatten a dual wheeled vehicle. Also it's electric, needs high tire pressure to save power when moving away from a stop.
@TheTopher6 жыл бұрын
Hey Danny, feel free to hit me up on Instagram - @thetopher2 I've used this article bit.ly/2Jw2JwB as a pretty good baseline for tire pressures, and I usually go a little bit lower, since I'm a pretty lightweight rider and prefer a softer ride for stability and comfort. I'm not sure how much of a difference an increase tire pressure would make in braking. There's definitely an advantage to efficiency and ultimately acceleration, but it's something I'm willing to experiment with a bit more.
@danmurphy19946 жыл бұрын
TheTopher TheTopher Ok I will be in touch with you soon, thanks! That's a really good resource surprised their's already such an established dialogue on these things already. I should have framed my comment differently - obviously you know how tire pressure affects the riding characteristics of electric transportation. For example, for an electric bicycle to achieve it's claimed range part of the ideal circumstances allowing for the claimed number is roughly 70-80psi tire pressure. That is with twice as much tire in contact with the ground as an electric unicycle, and for the bike the weight being roughly even in its' dispersion. These e bikes often have either no suspension or some sort of fork lockout feature allowing for improved forward momentum retention and therefore improved range. At the expense of what little rider comfort it provides when engaged. Now for an electric monowheel/unicycle there is only 1 contact patch on a relatively skinny tire where all of your 165 pounds (I weigh the same and require low-ish pressure to have any comfort as well) plus the 42 pounds the machine weighs is pressuring. My logic was this: higher tire pressure = less deformation of the tire = improved response to rider input = better braking performance. With deformation in the tire due to lower pressure creating a longer wider contact patch, being worsened further over broken pavement there should be a 'dead zone' where you have to lean further perhaps beyond your comfort zone to engage full braking power. Full braking power should also worsen that feeling of imbalance when leaning in a precarious position to stop due to G-force sending you forward. I don't agree with the person who claims 35 PSI for 175 pounds is at all optimal but I mean whatever works is what's truly optimal/ideal for the rider. I ride a Goped sport hard tire 2 stroke scooter around broken pavement and if I could improve ride quality I probably would too, instead I have to bend my knees to help reduce impact. Anyway, I'm really happy to see these videos you're doing the world a favor by reviewing products like this. Awesome, I'll be in touch soon thanks Chris!

There’s a guy in Hong Kong who says the V10 is unrideable. He has a 14” wheel. He says it’s too heavy and can’t be turned because it falls over! The problem is he’s trying to legislate, based on this erroneous view, so that 16” wheels and above get banned. I’ve told him that he hasn’t spent enough time riding but his view is that I can ride the V10 because I’m 6’5” tall and he can’t because he’s short and light!!! Could you tell me how tall you are please? I have to debunk his ideas otherwise we’ll get banned. I need some non-tall-person rider evidence!!!

What I don’t like about it is that it has a 2,000 w motor and they limit the speed to 25 mph. All the other other wheels with 1,900 w can go at least 31+ mph. The INMOTION V10 is sluggish even with a 2,000 w motor. The other wheels are not sluggish. The INMOTION V10 is a intermediate over priced wheel. Kingsong and Gotways are a better way to go. If I’m riding the INMOTION doing 25 mph I’m riding at 100% of the wheel while 25 mph is about 75% of the wheel which is safe to me.
@UStride6 жыл бұрын
CC Chodkowski Yeah that’s why I held off on purchasing this wheel, at-least at that price. I just couldn’t get myself to purchase it. Like you said such a huge motor but such low MPH. It just doesn’t make sense. I imagine it will start throttling at possibly 16-18mph? That’s crazy if true. I want to buy it because of the design but the low specs compared to comparable wheels makes feel Inmotion was just trying to keep up with the market. If they could manage 30+ mph with their next wheel for the same price that would make sense, but I feel they might still be playing catch up.
@chodkowski016 жыл бұрын
U-Stride, your videos of you on your Gotway 1020 is impressive. You prove all the points on your Gotway, 1) Gotway doesn’t throttle down when the battery goes below 50%. 2) your wheel attained a 32.8 mph. 3) 30 mile range. You kept right up with The Gotway MSuper X and the kingsong 18s on the New York ride. You have the experience and knowledge and your videos prove your points on the Gotway 1020. I’m waiting for e-wheels to get them back in stock. Thank you

CC Chodkowski yes sir, that’s exactly what I expected in reviews before purchasing wheels since I know I can’t return them. When looking at the V10F I don’t think It would be able to meet the same or close to the Tesla’s specs. But who knows, maybe. I would really like to try it out but not for that price lol. I might just end up getting it to put it through my tests. I don’t know. What do you think ? Also I see you’re paying real close attention to reviews. Are you planning on getting a new wheel?

U-Stride, I don’t think that’s worth a test. A test I would like to see you do is on the Gotway MSuper X. Your aggressive style with that aggressive wheel would be a great review. Sorry another question: you mentionned redundancy and said 'when one board fails the other kick in...'. I was under the impression that there is only one physical board on the V10F. InMotion communication is not very clear on that in the way some charts shows 2 different CPU when others speaks about a single, dual core CPU, which is of course not the same since dual core CPU do not offer any redundancy! They are also quiet old fashion compare to today multiple core CPUs. So to make it short, do you happen to know if the V10 is equiped with two CPUs or only with one dual core CPU? Thanks
@TheTopher6 жыл бұрын
Ok, correction on the redundancy from Inmotion: “There is indeed a dual core cpu, but not two mainboards. The dual core cpu offers some redundancy on system events and is optimized for cranking through real-time data that helps with the safety warning system and live data that you see in the app, but it's not really redundancy for parts failure etc. No EUC does that (yet).”

how would you compare joy of riding/carving to onewheel? what happens when power dies?
@bookmark28465 жыл бұрын
They are both a joy to ride and roughly even in terms of fun factor. Carving is more fun on a Onewheel but EUCs are more comfortable to ride due to the larger wheels and you get the thrill of more speed on the EUC. An EUC such as the Gotway Tesla is overall a better package and cost less than the OW+XR. As the battery goes down, the EUC will start slowing and will reach the point where it's going going a few miles per hour so even if the power died, you'd be able to step off of it without falling. That's the normal case. If for some reason it was defective, you'd be thrown into the ground similar to a OW nosedive but you have a better chance running it off because you aren't standing sideways (assuming you aren't going faster than 15mph). I've got hundreds of miles on both EUC and OW+XR. These days I tend to favor the EUC because of convenience factors.

Your video really helped me even being 4 years old (the braking video also contributed to my decision). I was trying to decide between the King Song KS14D, InMotion V8S (currently on sale), or the V10F. I'm just using it to "play" outside so I don't need the cruis-ability of the V10F. Now I just need to decide between the KS14D and the V8S. It'll probably be the V8S for the range. As I understand it, when you deplete the battery to around 50%, King Song and Inmotion start to throttle back the speed so ideally I'd like majority of my ride to be completed in the first 50% of the battery. Can you confirm if my understanding is true?
