You are both amazing and wonderful for being willing to share your emotions and vulnerabilities with everyone. You're doing it to try and help people, and I'm sure that it does, but apart from that you also revealed how terrific you are. You're obviously not fishing for validation but if you were I'd tell you how impressive you are as a person and I wish you all the success in the world.

STOOOP. When your "younger self" started talking I legitimately got choked up. Also, that's a nice breakthrough. I'm proud of you.

Also learned that your "inner child" isn't just you from ages 0-10. Your inner child is also your teenage self! Remember that we often have to relearn a lot of the negative self talk etc. that followed us into adolescence. Be kind to teenage you ❤

I just realised that every time I’m trying to be patient and explaining things to myself, I see it as a chore, and because I know that, it exhausts me. So I’m sending myself the message that I exhaust me. I need to do better. Thank you Anna for videos like this that remind me to be kinder and more patient with myself, and find joy in the process ❤️

think the part about having to be compassionate with the "inner child" was to be more lenient with relaxation; it's okay to rest when it feels necessary, even if it feels like cheating or whatever is felt. a lot of us have to practice that part ever so often :(

My immediate response to this was, "well you did two years of inner child work, but you were a child for 18 years, then spent X amount of years in your adulthood ignoring her and retraumatizing her". That's also the approach I'm taking with my own therapy.

Ugh inner child stuff gets me so hard every time. I picture my healthy adult self standing behind my inner child, my hands on their shoulders, and I tell them, "you don't need to worry about this. You were put in charge of things that you shouldn't have been. I'm big enough and strong enough to protect us both, you just need to go and be a kid. We're both safe, you can relax." Reparenting is where it's at, but my god can it be emotional.

Talk about being triggered...omg 😢 The way you just personified your inner child made me cry because that's how I talk to myself. Funny enough, my inner child is also my parent because I honestly had to raise myself, not to mention being a big sister 😅. I had to do some inception type stuff to get to her core. Was she ever able to be a kid? Maybe that's why I've been taking these breaks from school to do just that. Letting myself be a kid for once, not having to worry about everything and then some. She was so tired of always having to be an adult when she didn't have to. She just wants me to sit, breathe, and think/act on my dreams that had to be pushed aside in order to survive.

This is extremely real. There is a lot of trauma most people carry from childhood that they don't even know they are carrying and when you start to heal it. . definitely an unexplainable feeling and a huge emotional weight lifting

Spend some time with a kid and reflect on how young and vulnerable they are. Then remember you were just like that too and it helps grow the self compassion so you don’t have to constantly remind yourself. It gets easier and it dose stop hurting so much. It took me about 7-8 years of good therapy and lots of other stuff. It’s possible but you were a child for many more years than you’ve been healing so it takes time.

Tore me to shreds when I first started that. My mom got sick when i was little and died in my late teens. I was haivng stuff come up from stuff bacl around that time. I looked at a picture of myself when I the age when she first got sick and started sobbing, thinking about all the times i told my self to move on, get over it, no one cares except me because it doesn't matter any more. The thought of saying that to an already sensitive seven year old wrecked me 😢😂😅 i still need to work on it, bug that was eye opening.

I am not familiar with *inner child work*, but I often look inward. I didn't start until a few years ago, but I feel way better. I started reading about all of human history. I read about Zoroastrians, First Nations, Inuit, and their concepts of infinity, their social constructs and so on. I can't explain it, but it helps control the chaos in my head. Anyway, sorry fot rambling, thanks for the insight and advice.
