Think about how upfront in the mix this is, minimal gain, minimal effects, just tone, fingers, picking hand and flawless technique. This is another level.

His tone at times reminded of Allan Holdsworths distortion tone. So sick.

Tom Quayle is a nice guy. I really like how nicely he speaks. None of that exaggerated "enthusiasm" that so many other guitar people do, and he's a great player too!

Awesomness!!! I hate shredders but Tom is so much more than that. They are often precise with no feeling. I could watch and listen to Tom all day. He makes it look easy but very listenable.
@timbeaton50455 жыл бұрын
That's because Tom is not a "shredder" in the same way that Holdsworth, Govan are not shredders. They know and understand the musical structures, and can play whatever their inspiration wants to play. That they can play blindingly fast is not the point. That's the difference.

I never get bored of this tune. I’m still practising the changes, in the hopes that I’ll be able to create something that sounds better an infant who fell on a xylophone. Until then, I’ll just listen to guys like you play.

@timbeaton50455 жыл бұрын
@@tomquayleguitar Listening to that, at the start, i almost did a double take. I thought for a second or two it was a sax, at the start. Then realised. Of course, the story goes he actually wanted to be a sax player, but ended up on guitar. But the takeaway is the musical mind behind the notes. I listen to him, and strain to hear the "logic" behind what notes he picks out. I know it's there, but it defeats me. I listen to almost any other guitarist, and i CAN hear the logic. I just can't play it! Now to find some Coltrane for a sunny Sunday morning.... PS keep up the great work, Tom.

I noticed that you're using Laney amps, wouuld you recommend them to a Marshall guy?
@timbeaton50455 жыл бұрын
If any lesson is to be taken from this, it's that the fingers and the player that's important. He would be as awesome if he were playing through a Marshall, a Fender, A Boss Katana (!) you name it. Brands don't count, the player does. Literally!
