Inner West Garbage - 9040

One Sunday afternoon after finishing my own run for the day I made my way out to Inner West Council ( Former Marrickville Council Area ) to document some of the trucks they are currently running. Just before 5pm I stumbled across truck 9040 and it’s gun crew quickly collecting the red bins placed out in the suburb of Stanmore.
Inner West is the only council in Sydney that still does Afternoon / Evening collections for General Waste while Recycling, Vegetation and Clean Ups are collected in the morning time aswell as still having tonnes of 140L Skinny Sulo 2 bins in use too. Afternoon Collections start at around 4:30pm on Sunday - Thursday Afternoons while all other collections are carried out Monday - Friday mornings. The Job and finish conditions are at play here too, so the boys quickly run through the streets tipping bins and getting super fit and strong along the way, if only all work places where like this!
Last time I managed to film one of the Acco / Urbins just a few streets away from where this was filmed so I was happy to come across one of the newer 2020 Hino / Garwood Maxipacts for something different.
I’d like to say a big thanks to the friendly crew for being sweet with me filming and putting on a quick show but I’m also apologetic because It may of come off as intimidating / daunting for them having me following them around with the camera for a few lanes snapping a few photos and videos. But I hope the crew and everyone viewing enjoys the video.

Been wondering how often guys go two out on the rear loaders over there, like if some runs during the week are regularly only allocated a driver and one runner or if they're just short on crew that particular shift. Watching the truck get stopped ahead and then the guys drag up and handle a group of bins in that single spot, versus two runners attacking a side each as the truck rolls on through, an extra man makes a difference! Can see one of my original Marrickville uploads in the related videos as I type this... how much has changed since then, a bit similar and a bit different. Wish they still painted the fleet yellow over there, much cooler those council colours haha

Its good that Inner West actually have a think about what they do in terms of waste collection. Like having 2 trucks and parking one up and filling the other then once one is full parking up the first and loading up the second then both go to the tip at the same time. Defiantly be quicker leaving the truck in Neutral and having two on the back smashing it out but these boys still go hard! Defiantly better that they can lift the bins and dont have the enclosed hoppers in their way compared to the original trucks. You actually filmed Jack on this truck a few years back, Shame to see how beaten up its gotten.

Are most of the lane way's that wide? If so I'd imagine a side loader would be quicker. Also loving the traditional bin numbers on the back.

Problem is that there is a lot of tighter lanes then what’s shown, one way lanes, reverse in only laneways or have to drag the bins down the street to the truck, parked out streets / Main roads and a fair few larger units with heaps of 240’s. Side Arms with runners might work in some areas / streets but I reckon rear loaders are the way to go in this area otherwise the runs would have trucks driving over each other and going around in Circles doing 1 side of the street at a time

@@MegaDirtyHands Unfortunately this is all I managed to film at the moment, I do have a mate that works for Inner West who is keen for me to get him pumping the bins so hopefully I’ll have some more footage up soon
