Next up, foils for the 44' ? A slotted foil similar to a Fowler flap on an aircraft would be interesting for the lower speed/higher weight. Maybe a slated flap for shooting out the transition on and off the foil would work. Awesome gains, well done everyone!

With great interest I got acquainted with your creations (hydrofoils on a catamaran), as well as with comments to them. Iteres is not idle because I am dealing with a similar topic .... Several years ago I built and tested a working model of a catamaran with hydrofoils. But the task was set so that the wings could be serviced and, if necessary, dismantled (raised) in any conditions ... Including self-loading on the catamaran trailer ... Why do people forget that the propellers of motors are also garbage collectors? Although during operation in my case, this did not happen. (the problem is far-fetched). As a result of tests and operation of the model, the following results were revealed ... With 10 liters with a motor, and a total mass of 500 kg, the speed is about 28 km. h., weighing 700 kg - 10 hp. 22 km / h True, the contours and installation sites of the wings are not the same as yours, and it is planned to use and sails ... Based on the results of the experience, I am building a larger catamaran ... I will follow your progress ... Regards .... (subscription)

Looks like a great design. Have you tried fitting a foil like this on similar sailcat? I’m assuming a larger one since its much lower speed

Hi there, that is a great question. We only deal in power catamarans however. You can learn more about our foil system here: bit.ly/47CHjZt

Does the foil create more drag at slow speeds? It seems to hang down below the hulls, I like to beach my cat onto the shore, the foil can get caught on rocks, etc.

Can this technology be implemented in sailing cats?
@bradmcclure49454 жыл бұрын
hello your video has inspired me to utilize this technology for my trimaran electric motor sailer project what I envision augmenting the centerboard with a foil make it adjustable for depth so in shallow waters keep it up but when in big waves set the foil lower to help keep the bow up so the bow doesn't just plow into the waves if you like my idea I'm interested in sponsorship and that you could use to promote your product
@EdwardTilley2 жыл бұрын
Have you strapped one of these onto a sailing catamaran - perhaps in place of (sacrificial) full-time keels? If yes, does this foil add a daggarboard-like tracking assist. I should think yes.
@davidr98762 жыл бұрын
Looks like Hysucat is using your system. They have the single wing going down the middle and 2 trim pieces on the tail end just like what you showed in this video

This is awesome, I bet you could chop a dolphin in half at 55mph with that foil and not even have to worry about the foil getting damaged lol.

Pioneering? You know of no other company? Surely this is derived from Hysucat/Hysucrafts patented technology? Apart from that, it is a stunning boat!!

a company was making cats like this in South Africa 40 years ago, it was in the 20/30 ft range . mainly for sport fishing . the only problem was that these tipe of boats had to be ramp/ harbour launched, whereas the vast majority of launches are beach launches due to the lack of harbours and suitable river mouths, thus they were not that popular . pitty as they were by all standards a good design.

I've always been intrigued with foils, (aviation background), and have thought of how to increase the performance of my boat. Though, wanting to raise for a less draft in shallow water ways. Any thoughts?
@michaelplunkett8059 Жыл бұрын
No need for height movement complexity as big foil is already higher in water than propellers/rudders. Rear foils are between 2 hulls and higher than same.

@Wingnut3533 жыл бұрын
Sounds like fairly costly, since he mentioned it was roughly in line or a bit less than adding more power to the boat so in the tens of thousands range.... granted that makes sense if the performance improvement is 30% or so and if used enough it would end up paying for itself in fuel savings... and when being sold on a new boat of this class a small premium. I imagine once the patents expire we may see some home built versions on hand built craft... after all aviation and boating enthusiasts have been building fairly complex foils for many decades. And the patents can serve to drive innovation...

Inventor of foils?
@vanekert3 жыл бұрын
Yes I get a queasy feeling listening to these car salesman types. Looking at the massive wake produced by this klutz of a vessel, efficiency is obviously not one of it's strong points.. An obviously misapplied old technology to wow ignorant techyuppies.
@Wingnut3533 жыл бұрын
@@vanekert Appearances can be deceiving... without the foil it can do 38knots at WOT which is respectable for any cruiser. With the foil it does 38knots at cruise... 44mph at WOT.... basically best in class. You can look at cruisers for a long time and not see anything near that. 1-1.2Mpg is also pretty normal for boats of this size. You say that the wake is rediculous on this boat... well yeah when most other cruisers this size are built to go only half the speed.... and many only go around 7-10knots.
