good luck keeping up with future technological advancements, we as a species have come to a point in time technology wise where the next 10yrs is going to be equivalent to the last 100yrs of tech advancements.

I can recall my Father telling me about using bubbles on a ship's hull some 45 yrs ago. He was a marine engineer and inventor. Unfortunately he died soon after this.

That boat invention with bubbles released on the bottom of the ship to reduce fuel consumption….is genius. People congratulations to the inventor

I invented that when I was 15. I am 72 now, so, to me, this is old tech. ;-) Just goes to show that you should never think "If this hasn't been invented, it won't work."

Good idea But the bubbles would cause the propellers to work harder for the same speed since they would reduce the specific gravity of the water
@theonlybuzz1969

This technology is unfortunately not new but stems back to over a thousand years or more! The Viking long boats used the same method except for the blower, the plank upon plank method of construction, where air would go along the hull in the channels formed of the plank’s laid up on each other. This was found in the Mediterranean vessels as well.

@@anthonykenny1320 That's why the propellers are not in the bubbles path.

wonderful. Glad to see someone using their brain. If we can get a bit of this on, that should be fine for the emissions. Apply it to mass transit.

For retro fitting, it's problematic. The issue with air under the hull in traditional propeller placement is propulsion. The propellers can become usless in air streams. Because they use water to produce thrust. It's a good idea and with redesign of traditional systems, it could easily increase thrust. I like it. ❤

This is not new. Viking klinker-built ships did just that without a blower, which is what made them so fast. If you've ever been to a fjord you'll know that they are crystal clear and a bot builder would have been able to go underwater and see that the air was pushed under the front of the boat and pushed along the klinkers and out the back.

The bubbles under the hull was done 50 years ago and the authorities couldn’t classify it. They couldn’t decide whether it came under the aviation or marine authorities. It was proved to increase speed by less drag and save fuel by using less horse power to drive.

"replacing the work of dozens of labourers"... err 2. (I know how much labour it takes to feed 280 cows.) Go to Mars or Venus? One objective progresses science the other progresses both science and humanity - maybe combined efforts is the better strategy - its not as if Venus is going anywhere...

helium filled balloons for under water'''' think you got that wrong as the boianseiey between air and same volume helium is barely readable as to the cost air wins out. if you are attempting to educate at-least get it right. P.S. the computer that made this program did not make a mistake the humans that programed it did

I'm really curious how you came to this conclusion. Let's make this a bit easier to relate to. You and I are walking around a tree in an otherwise empty field in the same direction. I'm twice as far from the tree as you are. How is it impossible for you to never be on the other side of the tree from me. You are still closer and we are both still walking around the tree in the same direction.

UFOs create no friction by bending space around the spacecraft, whereas I wonder if instead of putting air bubbles under the boat, could they put them in front of the boat, so, that it would surround the boat causing a similar frictionless experience, ultimately allowing the vessel to go even faster?🚤
