@michaelwilliams38616 жыл бұрын
@@teapotone Reason for taking Neg off first, the neg is connected to earth, (the chassis) so if you take the Neg off first and then accidentaly touch that wire, or the spanner, to any part of your bike, nothing will happen. If you take the Pos of first and accidentaly touch any metal part on the bike with the pos, Bang! you've basicaly connected your Pos and Neg together, not a good outcome. Im sure your mate knows this :)

Tex Rider I much prefer to use my girlfriends thighs for crimping . They don’t always work ,but so much more fun .
@stuartknowles61606 жыл бұрын
Like the video mate! The different colour crimps indicate what size cable they can take, the blue one is for bigger cable which is why your mate had to squeeze it in the vice and couldn't crimp it tight enough with the pliers like the red one, should have used red crimps (which are for smaller cable) for both terminations and then put the black tape/heat shrink on the negative . Its hard for a sparky to watch as there are proper crimping tools for this. Having said all that i am pragmatic and it will work perfectly well for years to come or until you get a new bike....Which probably won't be that long LOL!

I would think that 1) lower production volumes 2) waterproofing have a big effect.
@TeunSegers4 жыл бұрын
I imagine it stems from the need for waterproofing (of all parts of the installation, not the camera bit), vibration proofing and added complexity from the fact you're not just using a USB cable to power it.

Good video but I hate those connectors! I use the proper ones that curl in onto the cable in two places (Like the manufacturers use). You need a proper tool to install them but I got mine for £30! The Halfords crush one always work lose - even when you use the proper tool. I go to Vehicle Wiring Products for my stuff and they have been great. I also don't use insulating tape - it goes gooey after a few weeks - self amalgamating tape is the way to go. A strange rubbery tape that sticks and moulds to itself - lasts forever. You can get that at Halfords etc. This is the system I was thinking of getting so, other than the bits above, top marks!

It’s great, Beene eating mine for around 3yrs now through all weathers - British winters and Springs, to Spanish summers, and it’s coped really well. It last about an hour or so in full-on torrential rain before moisture starts to get in at a few spots, but it’s certainly nice and warm with the included detachable thermal liner. I found the connection between the jacket and trousers was the biggest weak point as water could easily get in at the front, so I always looked like I’d swamped myself when I took the jacket off! I’ve been testing the new Icon Raiden jacket for the last 6 months or so and I’ve got to say it’s been the most waterproof biker jacket I’ve tried so far, by a long way. I’m aiming to get s review vid up on that around Spring time 👍

I’ve found that since installing it, my riding during the commute has slowed dramatically as I’m very aware any footage of ‘exuberant’ riding prior to any accident could be very damaging. It can only be a good thing though, it makes me ride safer and slower (NOT necessarily the same thing) and if the worse does happen and I’m involved in an incident, it should hopefully prove in my favour. 🤞👍
