Nice one Nick, it's a sad reflection of our society but these are so useful these days if you have to go into battle with a 3rd parties insurance company. My wife recently had someone reverse into her in a supermarket carpark, having the dashcam evidence not only meant we had a no quibble no fault claim but also helped her stress levels enormously knowing she could prove she wasn't to blame.

Another great video, Nick! Now to decide whether I want to go k3 or k5 for my new '22 r1250rt. Ugggh....I hate removing all the plastics!!!! 😊
@nickhodgeUK2 жыл бұрын
Hi Fred. The K5 due to the throughput needed for 4K means the front camera is mounted in the DVR unit making it bulky and on the RT probably difficult to mount

Hi. Thanks for the review, very interesting. I’m thinking of installing one on my new R1250RT, but I still have a few questions I’m hoping you might be able to answer. Is a Hex EzCAN indispensable or does it just make the installation easier? Does you have any idea where the modules and cameras are best place on the RT, since I’ve only found installation tips/videos for the GS? Thanks in advance.
@nickhodgeUK2 жыл бұрын
Hi chris. Now an EzyCan/CanSmart is not necessary. It just means you don’t need to tap into a ‘switch wire’ in the main loom, although if you do this with a posi-tap you won’t notice it afterwards anyhow. The K3 has a built-in power delay to switch-off to make sure the last file(s) are saved so the Canbus does not need to handle the task. I’ve seen them fitted on the front below the headlight and there is a bracket someone sells for GoPros that fits as a bridge between the two side of the fairing there. The rear one is often easier as there are plenty of places to screw it too even if that’s the rear number plate. 👍🏻

Is there any way these systems can be jsed for motovlogging ?
@nickhodgeUK3 жыл бұрын
Hi Safdar. I have used them for supplementary video and you could run the mic to the helmet. A GoPro is much better for that though as the colour space is better 👍🏻

Thanks for the video Why Innovv chose to not use 5GHz WIFI is crazy... 2.4GHz is far too slow to download videos from the DVR.

I agree Rob although it’s much easier to remove the card now than the K2!! (Certainly mine). It must be on their web site now as it’s not a public video on my channel yet as just finishing its R1250GSA fitting, app and firmware video ‘brother’. Should be done in a day or two 👍🏻

Hi Sarawuth. It is H264 (High L5.1 to be precise). Yes it is still 2.4GhZ WiFi (transfer approx 3.5MB/sec which is a shame). I have no answer on the GPS I'm afraid, but looks the same as the K2

.y experience with the K2 wasnt great, innov have been good though and are replacing it, just awaiting the k3. I am really surprised they have changed the camera connectors, the old USBC type seemed far better than those screw togethers (used on the K2 as well). That's also a minor annoyance for fitting the k3 as it's a complete reinstall even though the cameras are identical. I guess they must have had issues with the usbc ones but I've certainly not experienced any problems. Sounds like the WiFi is still poor, some of that is due to 2.4ghz but let's be honest, the K2 never got anywhere near the throughput it should do at 2.4ghz. With such poor WiFi performance, I'd like to have seen the microusb on a flying lead, getting the card out if the K2 is a pain and I normally have to fiddle about with tweezers to get it out. Doesn't look like that problem is going away with the k3. I was really hoping for improvement on the WiFi as the marketing materials for the k3 claim "It’s never been easier to view, download, and share memorable moments with INNOVV app without extracting the TF card" so I was hoping they'd resolved this issue. In my testing with the K2 I'd be lucky if I saw 10mbps which makes downloading 10 minutes of footage a non viable option.
@nickhodgeUK3 жыл бұрын
They use low-res for streaming in the app which they can get away with on a phone but it’s really SD out. The connectors are far better IMO although bulky. The old plastic ones used for GPS are poor. The cameras do have different sensors and in fact the pixel count is slightly lower 👍🏻
@null.packet3 жыл бұрын
@@nickhodgeUK ah ok, I thought they were the same cameras, any noticeable difference in quality? Im really happy the quality from the K2. Speaking of GPS though, my K2 is laggy, speed measurement is accurate but the reading lags behind in the video, sometimes I'm doing 40 around a roundabout 🤔What's your experience?
@nickhodgeUK3 жыл бұрын
@@null.packet the quality is not noticeably different if I’m honest. Slightly sharper but not really relevant. My GPS is ok. It does lag but not significantly and no more than my Nav6. Do you have it upright, behind as little as possible and away from the DVR? I have to say ‘cheap’ GPSs do take a while. My iPhone on Google maps takes a while for the little blue dot to settle on where I am. 👍🏻
