2:44 You can see how the crystal is deformed while converting the energy. That means the overall flexibility and (most important) the hysteresis is increased. This leads to increased rolling resistance force. The energy collection is possible thus thanks to increased engine power consumption. This is a theft from the gas tank. 3:34 200 kWh per hour (translation from Hebrew was correct) is the same as 200 kW but badly articulated.

@plusaf "REDUCING the flexing of the roadways would probably improve net fuel consumption enough to run lots of generators for those lamps" - Exactly. And even without the road improvement the overall energy consumption is less when generated by a dedicated power station because there is no energy loss in car's transmission, tyres, etc. on the way to the piezoelectric generator in this case. I'm not mentioning the infrastructure and its maintenance costs.

@wholethinker ........ think of it this way. No energy collected would just be wasted. Why not collect the tiny fractions of energy from the " many " vehicles travelling along the roadway to help reduce the burden on non renewable sources. It is a step in the direction that we should be going.

Maybe you should run things ? I vote " you " for World Leader. Save us save us from those lazy cops and bad ideas.

@JusticeVSpropaganda Oil rich countries are interested in promoting this piezoelectric road technology because it leads to increased oil consumption. Thus they will be silent in this case. "KOL HAKAVOD" - KOL HAKAVOD le mi? lo barur.

@dlaw12345 I have a Word file (5 pages) with calculations and analysis; let me know if you are interested. The bottom line: using a dedicated generator for road utilities would be more efficient than piezoelectric road. The only benefit of the piezoelectric road: new jobs are created, and it's important when the economy is down.

@Yan Sollo Yes, I still have it, though not in a good shape, just thoughts and estimates.

@@wholethinker Hi, I plan to do my university dissertation on this subject. Is your document something you would potentially mind sharing. Or if not is there anything I should consider that might not straight away seem obvious regarding harvesting energy from roads? Any info will be greatly appreciated, thanks.
