It is weird to me that IMI didn't match the length of the handguard to the length of the gas tube's rail. Those two inches would make a huge difference.

@inrangetv Karl, if I can give you a tip on the Galil charging handle: you cup it from the front with the outside of your left palm (the part below the pinkie) and jerk back. You release it for the forward return if you are charging the rifle, or just follow along if you are clearing it. I did that for a few years on a daily basis when I carried one, and it is very comfortable once you get used to it.

The Midwest Industries MLOK rail absolutely transformed mine. Though i still primarily run an AR, i find mine to be an excellent, something different, option. Accuracy is good, nothing stellar. Does shoot PPU M80 quite well, which is nice. Great trigger, very reasonable weight, it just plain hasnt given me any problems. One thing i will mention, though not sure if it is a widespread issue, but it does not like Lancer L7s. They drop free under recoil.

Nice review. With the ACE in .308, make sure that the mags used are US made. It makes a difference with import laws. Galil even states that in their documentation. Also, if you want to add the MI extended rail on the .308, use the one designed for the 5.56 variant. The MI extended rail for the .30 cal version does not work on the .308 ACE. What does "it's a parts kit build" mean? I hear that a lot but I'm not quite sure what it means. Is it like a Lego set where they literally ship you all the pieces and you put it together yourself, or do you have to like mix and match parts and provide some of your own?
@lurminator4 жыл бұрын
Parts kit builds refer to (often) demilled foreign military weapons that have to be broken down into parts and its receiver cut a certain way as outlined by the ATF in order to be able to import them into the US. Builders take these parts kits, often removing the rest of the parts from what’s left of its old receiver and reassemble onto a new (often) US made receiver, along with the necessary 922r compliance US made parts to make a new semi-automatic sporting rifle. Those Atlantic Firearms Romanian Builds they have from time to time for sale are an example of such a parts kit build, taken from Romanian military AKM pattern rifles. These differ from a Romanian Cugir built WASR-10, which is a brand new made sporting rifle Cugir manufactures mostly for the sporting/export market, as these specific models Cugir makes don’t have to be demilled since they weren’t military issued weapons, even though they also manufacture weapons for the Romanian military. Import laws are kooky like that! 😏 Hope this helps a bit.
@jeramyw4 жыл бұрын
A "parts kit build" is a firearm that was "usually" a full auto weapon that had the receiver cut in half (and after 2004 the barrels were also cut). Once it is cut into pieces they "usually" ship the parts to America (or some other country). After it gets here it is rebuilt with a new semi auto receiver. Some one either buys the parts kit and builds it themself or a company could put it together. A Wasr 10/63 is an AK that was a full auto military rifle until the Romanians chopped them up and rebuilt them then shipped the whole rifle here.
