Yeah jury is still out on whether it was worth it. I think Lvjd going for rockets kind of allowed it to work, if he had early vehicle pressure he may have been able to punish the 7500 invested.

@@DeejusProductions I think it's more than a viable investment but only given the right CO (i.e. Sami/Koal/Adder for Mechs). Go7 had precisely the right timing to put pressure on the property, but you can also wait until later if you don't plan to use his opening with the Recon to force a tank and drain the infantry on the weakside.

Using the rule of thumb that being able to build a unit (i.e. not base skipping) is worth 2000 funds, the black boat pays for itself once it transports 4 infantry. Which is extremely good.

I'm here to analyze the mech usage of players who are way better than me. Blue - Day 7 - Top left - Codename "Dood" Very interested to see what's going to happen to this mech. This island base is basically surrounded by factories on every shore, and south there's just wide open fields full of infantry who would love to waste blue's precious 2000 extra funds. Probably bring this fella to the east to sit on that mountain in a pincer attack on the weak side factory. Could be the difference in taking this factory quickly versus getting stalled up. Black - Day 9 - Top base - Codename "Counterplay" Presumably black's answer to both the incoming tanks and the incoming pincer attack, but I dunno. The right side seems very open to the incoming tanks and that mountain is actually three turns away. There's a nice mountain to the left which perhaps he intends to sit on, then come out and punish whatever steps on his factory. Dood day 9. Dood's off the boat first, leaving black with some tough choices to make. The tank wants absolutely nothing to do with this mech since his front is collapsing, and the healthier infantry would rather capture the city of course. Counterplay day 9. I guess this guy was pretty good in the end. There was no need to be as defensive as I supposed since the pipe seam blew and reinforcements are streaming in. Rather he moved forward and obliterated a recon for cheaper than what a tank would have cost, and none of blue's units wants to waste their turn attacking a mech in return. Black's line is looking like a tough nut to crack now. Dood day 11: Dood finally accomplished his mission of attacking something. It was just an infantry so a mech was not exactly necessary, but a lot of things could have happened on this beach, so maybe. Now he sits behind another dream position for a mech - a chokepoint an enemy tank wants to break through but can't without eating Dood's counterattack, the only problem being Dood's at half health. Dood Day 12: Finally Dood does something that only a mech can: suicide onto a tank while taking a meaningful chunk out of it. Counterplay day 13: Jumps onto a city and blows up an infantry. He's right in the middle of this giant melee so I don't expect him to last long, but overall it seemed like a decent mech with total damage done of 7 to a recon and 4 to an infantry. Decent mechs this match, but I'm still waiting for the really chunky ones, the absolute chonkers who decide games.

One other neat thing you can do on this map, although it's a bit expensive, is a massed tank landing. Landers are expensive and you will be on the back-foot while building up your landing forces, but if you build up a couple of them and load them with tanks, you can drop a few tanks right into the opponent's backline on their strong side. Your opponent basically HAS to respond to that, otherwise they end up with enemy tanks sitting on their strong-side bases and no way to reinforce on that side.

Do 5-10 matches at a time to get some good exposure, but not too many or you'll burn out and not learn from the games. Worth trying both std and fog too

I've actually watched pretty much all of Mangs' AWBW vids at this point, looking forward to binging all of yours. I hope in the future you'll use the replay viewer's function to change colors so the blues and blacks look more different. I ain't even colorblind but red and blue is so much more eye-friendly wherever possible! :D

I'm loving the videos, I would love to know if you have any games already on the channel that are really good for looking at starts (Capture phase, and the transition into the mid game). I'm a complete noob at 830mmr but think that's probably my best bet for getting better in a timely manner. I'm trying to play in more tier 3-4, but do really enjoy games with Hawke. I had a game against a Javier with Hawke where I was able to deny them com towers, and didn't build any indirects, so it felt like playing against a CO with no powers (probably cause it was exactly that). But I'd like to make that more of a consistent thing than a happy accident.

I wonder if it's viable to build a lander on that little island instead of a black boat.. Sure, a little more of an investment, but instead of just sending infantry over to the enemy weak side, you'd be attacking heavy from both sides and possibly taking that base. I didn't keep count, but Go7 did lose a few thousand gold just sending infantry anyway
