Yeah it's so rad! Really fits that ex-bike messanger and urban rider aesthetic perfectly, while being incredibly functional. More bikes should come with integrated locks, Dutch bikes already do (different than a U-lock though)

There were so many great bikes represented with all sorts of materials and finishes. You really need to spend more than a few hours to really appreciate the effort the builders and vendors put forth and didn't have that trade show vibe. I'm looking forward to next year. Glad to have been able to meet and greet a few as I think I've found a builder.

As an American with 5 vehicles and twice as many bicycles I feel like it is perfectly reasonable to have both cultures. We got the space and we got the means, might not feel that way in bigger congested cities but thats just a small percentage of the country in terms of area, would be nice however if more people rode bikes...

Spent a lot of time at the show talking to so many builders and such. I tended to gravitate to the more unique builders. Especially the 2 wooden frame builders. The one from the UK, TWMPA, was an exquisite work of art. Wooden bikes ride exceptionally well and are stronger than you think. Spent time at the Pinion gear/Gates belt drive booth. No derailleurs is very appealing for longer bike packing rides. Really liked the industrial venue. It gave it a feel of that garage inventiveness where a lot of these bikes started. FYI They might move it to September to avoid the forest fire smoke. Looking forward to next year. Cheers

@SurpriseMeJT
@SurpriseMeJT 9 ай бұрын
@@lilbtyt7928Yes, there are different pitch threads on the steerer at times, requiring a different thread pitch headset which is annoying and why I would go with a 1" threadless if going custom. Also, my opinion is on road bikes, not mountain. Kieth Bontrager defintely believed in 1" on all his bikes (steel).

The 3D printing is very cool, especially as sintering tech improves. But I'd LOVE to see more hydroformed steel and Ti. Anchor bikes (previously Bridgestone) made some beautiful steel frames (they still make one, the RCN-7) where the tubes were flared to make silver brazing easy, but didn't use separate lugs. They had the smoothness of fillet but the weight of TIG.

Yes I agree… I bought an entry level Jansno X50 e-bike… I rode my Trek 630 from 1995 through 2004, then upgraded to a fat tire mountain bike that I still own… unfortunately in 2020 and 23 days after I retired I was diagnosed with chronic heart disease, even though I never took a sick day in my 41 years at the same job. But I am not giving up and I do not need an e-bike to match my old crotch rocket days. My first mini bike in 1969 looked like the 1/50th scale bike on the right… so I guess my retro bias kicked in. But you do have a choice to make. Thank you for the video.
