sorry man, but you still aren't quite understanding what the Calibration tab is and does. I'll see if i can work with someone at Adobe to finally create and publish a definitive explanation. It's really not that difficult to understand what's going on under the hood, but seems like it's still a mystery to most.

@@SignatureEdits Hmmm, well it's easy to understand but difficult to explain without visual references! I'll try and put together either a video or some sort of visual for what those sliders are doing under the hood.

@@eartho Hmm So you can't explain it, You have a channel with cat videos and no photo editing videos but you are here to criticize. I think that the Signature edits guy did a great job of showing us how to at least experiment with this tool. Along with what it can be used for. As far as an explanation of the tool it is fairly obvious to all Photoshop experts that The calibration tool affects The colour worked on,in all the colours of your image, Not just the red, green or blue you are working on. This brings me to an interesting idea, what if you use Camera Raw as a filter, only using The calibration tool. Then use a luminosity mask or a channel mask to only affect the colours in the image you want to , or use blend if to protect the highlights or shadows from being affected by the edit?. Eartho please make a video on calibration share your secrets

I am half way through the video.. and i think signature edits explained it well enough to use this tool.. earlier i was using it just to introduce some contrast in my image but I know a lot more on how and when to use it.. one question.. this camera calibration will be used mostly when there is an artificial source of light?

@alex_aka_dev4 жыл бұрын
The reason why the green has such an impact on the wedding photos is because the "color" panels on your sensor is majority green because green give's the most luminence making your sensor more sensitive to light. That does however effect the light and ur image turns green. This is where WB and Tint come into play and your colorspace as the color space is a mathmatical way of getting rid of the green that is on your sensor. So by changing the green the "equation" get altered and you end up with that result of green going down but your skintones stay boosted in luminance as the camera profile has preset those colours to fix the colors. Don't quote me but that's how it makes sense to me from the small bit I know of the sensors!

Camera Calibration is one of the most underrated yet powerful tools in the LR toolbox. Even little tweaks can make a difference and make a picture pop. I rarely use the Red Primary hue, I mostly tweak either the hue of the blues or greens to get rid of the sickly green. With red I like to boost saturation a bit on food shots to make the reds deep and standing out (like in carrots, apples or oranges).

7:30 No no I got it. You're not explaining it very properly... The HSL changes only the color you selected. The RGB primaries change everything that contain the color you are changing. For example yellow is made up of red and green, so when you change the red primary it will also change the yellow parts because yellow contains red. Whereas in the HSL changing the red sliders will only affect the narrow definition of the red parts of the image - it will only change the literal red parts. Editing the primaries is a lot more like the curve tool.
