Your integrity is much appreciated Nigel. So many KZbin photographers are selling Presets now (some for crazy amounts of money) but for you to say you wouldn't buy yours because we should develop our own raises the bar on integrity and trust. I always figured I was pretty advanced as a Lightroom user but I'd no idea about holding down the shift key to paint in straight lines! I could have saved a lot of time if I'd known that a few years ago. Thank you!!

Yes I remember Nick Page saying in a video it's better to create your own presets than buy them. I think he said the only reason to but them would be if there was a style you particularly liked you could then see how it had been put together and tweak it as you liked. Hats off to Nigel.

Great video and great tips (I good bit I did not know of). Thank you 😊 On the colour grading, you can also click on the top part of the menu to adjust just the shadows (or the mid tones or highlights) and you get just one (bigger) colour wheel as well as sliders for hue and saturation (you can also type in the values (as by any slider)).

Hi Nigel, I use masks all the time, but missed then trick about using the Erase Brush Tool at the same time to remove the areas, like tops of mountains, you don't want to be effected. Top Tip! While I'm here, just like to say that my copy of the Vistas arrived yesterday. I have to say after looking at images on screens for so long you forget how impressive the printed page is! You look forward to each turn of the page is and what you might encounter next. I believe we still we need the tactile connection that books have to offer over the backlit world of screens we live in. I have many books on photography and photographers but not many exclusively put together by the photographer themselves. That changed last year when I bought Charlie Waite’s ‘Behind The Photograph’ after attending a talk of his in London. I was sorry to have missed your first edition of Vistas, so was glad when you did a second run. It is truly beautiful. Love the design, layout and typography as well as the stories accompanying the photographs. I am savouring the moments and restricting myself to viewing only a few pages each day at a time to make the experience last . I was lucky enough to get a commendation from LPOTY this year in the Urban Life category and get the image published in this year’s book. What a great feeling that was, so to have a whole book litho printed professionally in a large volume must be a thrill and fill you with pride. I certainly have been spurred on with my photography after my small achievement. I’ve been following you since your first KZbin vid and watched you and your photography develop. I enjoy all the vids, the tips, and your philosophies, and enjoyed the Nikon webinar you did recently. So keep up the good work and I just want to say thanks to you from me and, on behalf of all your subscribers, for all the great work that you share with us each week. Take care and stay safe. Cheers, Ray.

Great tips. I temporarily created collections for all my photos, took ages to sync, but it gave me the ability to use the Sensei search function on my IPad or Android phone. I searched the images for particular details, such as Autumn colour, beaches, waterfalls, different types of flower, birds, wildlife, etc. I saved the resulting searches as separate albums, which are synced back to Lightroom Classic. I then added keywords to these files and wrote them out to the file metadata. I always used keywords in Lightroom Classic, but using Sensei searching has made it much easier to group files in new ways. It is easy to remove false positives from these search albums.

Hi Nigel, Must admit when I saw the title I didn't rush to watch it like I normally do and was thinking of just skipping it for this week's video as I use ON1 Photo RAW 2021 not Lr/Ps. However, I wondered if there might be anything useful so i started watching whils having lunch and actually, apart from the items linked to ipad use, all the tips like saving brush styles & presets etc are just as applicable to ON1 and in some cases easier to do on that. I hadn't actually thought about saving different brush styles so I'm glad I watched it. Thanks.
