Insane Custom Built RC Drag Car

This is a custom rc drag car that was designed and built by my friend Gary Hamilton a couple months ago using a donor TLR 22 5.0 Elite 2w Buggy.

damn i remember as a kid my dads buddy gave me a care just like this without the body but i remmber it being all carbon and had the center spring for the chassis, wish i had taken all my rc stuff when i moved rip

Kinda reminds me of the old Associated 10L, but instead of direct pinion and spur with bulk head box, it now uses a slipper clutch type transmission. Old meets new, neat, good looking set up! Built my first rc car out of a hard flat piece of vinyl plastic, bulk head was cut out of hard plastic with LeMans 240 motor, adjustments for motor, solid rear drive axles, wheels and front spindles. All flea market purchased, old school mechanical speed controller, ran pretty good back in the day, it's now sitting in a box somewhere, also had a Lambo body, but custom building has come along ways!

Thanks for sharing! I've been throwing around that idea of making a drag car. Seeing that chassis layout gives me an idea. I have several oval RC pan cars that i no longer run, and to me it basically looks like he fabricated a 2wd buggy front and rear end on to a pan car chassis.

Is there a reason they dont race pan cars for drag? Like you I have a few and with brushless and 2 cell lipo it flies there are road slicks available for pan cars and gives great traction on asphalt. So again I wonder why not.

Thank you! Most of my rc collection is back running again with all our flying spots closed. All my drift and touring cars are up and running and ordered a lapmonitor from Europe with 4 transponders to build a racecourse at home😎

RC industry is growing fast from my observations. People have made awesome projects in the last 5 years. 30 years ago only fast cars or boats ware nitro powered. Quadcopters speed up so fast you can't keep up starting from 16Mhz Atmega and heavy ESCs to 480MHz STM32H7 and AIO ESC etc.
