I would like to thank everyone for the prayers,I live about 400yds below where the cars were piled up in Leburn, KY,three miles from Hindman, ,I have family members and countless friends who lost their homes, vehicles, and most belongs, but were spared their lives,I thank God for that, sadly bodies are still being recovered, some may never be found,if you watch the clip you can see a white double wide, but it is not there in a later clip that was spliced in the next morning,a friends mother who lived their had called her asking to be rescued as she was on the roof, the daughter posted this on fb,but within a short time the doublewide was washed away with her still on the roof, her body was recovered a few miles away, still,we are Appalachia mountain people,we are among the toughest people,I say that not because I live here, but because it is true, our people,my people are resilient,we are survivors!

For sure the climate has always changed, no one can debate that throughout history. There is even data out there that suggest all of the planets in our solar system are experiencing climate change, heating up some. I hope everyone is safe. Rivers need room to meander back and forth across the flood plains, that's how water is cleaned , soaking down through the dirt to replenish the aquifer. Flooding is part of life but will become more severe and frequent with climate disruption. We need to restore and protect rivers' riparian areas to help with the flooding and to help keep our precious water clean.

The issue here is in no way directly traceable to global warming or whatever. The Gulf weather pattern into central appalachia is very well documented. The rains are a result of orographic lifting. Many areas are on the edge of being classified as temperate rain forest (and some areas to the south actually are!)
