The Perito Moreno Glacier is famous for insane glacier wall collapses during the summer when large icebergs - often up to 250 feet in height - are breaking off the glacier and collapsing into water of the Lago Argentino. Subscribe for more ► kzbin.info...
A beautiful landscape, cracking sounds, large icebergs and sometimes even tsunami-like waves create overall stunning spectacles for all visitors.
Despite most of the glaciers worldwide are retreating as a result of global warming and climate change, one of the very few glaciers that maintains in a state of equilibrium is the Perito Moreno Glacier as it continues to accumulate mass at a rate similar to that of its loss.
The ice field of the Glacier Perito Moreno is the world's 3rd largest reserve of fresh water. The glacier is one of Argentina's most beautiful natural wonders - its colors and shapes of the ice remind of a piece of art of Gaudi. The glacier is about 5 km wide and has an average height of 74 m (240 ft).
This compilation shows dozens of glacier calvings filmed in 1988. If you are interest in some more recent events, make sure to also check out our production: "Glacier Calving | 15 Amazing Collapses, Tsunami Waves and Icebergs" ( • Glacier Calving | 15 A... ).

while some see this as a sign of the earth distruction due to climate changes .never forget that if the ice age ended 40,000 years ago the ending itself is still on going today .

I agree. this is just normal ice thawing. Yes glaciers melt when the temperatures warm up coming out of an ice age. Lol

@@stickjr.3715 well thats the little details that the global warming inthousiastics volontaraly decide to leave asside in their info to the public is that we are still living thru the end of the ice age and that the ice age was actually started by global warming itself 40,000 years ago . You dont really need to be an expert on globa warming or archelology to figure out that global warming was here way before mankind became industrialised . You jsut need to study when and why the ice age ended and how it evolved ever since and the answers are all there for all to see

Also, Glacier Perito Moreno is one of only three glaciers in the world that grows rather than retreat.
@guytremblay1647
@guytremblay1647 3 жыл бұрын
@@katanyajason3316 well glaciers in altitude are way more resilient than the ones in low altitudes thats a fact since the air is way more cold in high altitudes and is prompt to make glaciers grow instead of retreating like the Hymalayas for exemple . But even these will eventually melt has the continents move and the landscape changes cause has plate movements create mountains thousands of feet high those same mountains eventually fall appart by degradation over millions of years to go back to a flat state .

Surprisingly the glacier shown in this video, the Perito Moreno (Argentina), is a glacier which is not melting in the same way as most other glaciers do due to climate change / global warming. The Perito Moreno is still there and the calving also looks like 30 years ago (we added some information about it in the video description). We uploaded a similar compilation video with collapses from the same glacier filmed over the very last years: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mmrYaJ1sg8eDg5Y However, the Perito Moreno Glacier is a rare exception insofar, most other glaciers are sadly retreating!
