But you know in you head that this usage of energy means that he is dead. Stands are a manifestation of the soul, Kakyoin's soul had moved on its own. It had no choice but to move!

When I first saw this scene, I wasn't that sad and thought I wouldn't be sad to see Kakyoin go. Now that I have finished the anime and read some of the other parts, Kakyoin's death was probably the saddest, because with his death, he didn't know if what he wanted to accomplish actually happened. Also, that split second where he instantly feels the pain and get's flung back is heartbreaking.

「法皇の緑」って遠距離攻撃が出来て遠くまで行ける探索向きの能力だから物語上こういう役回りになってしまったんでしょうね。この後スタンドの射程距離が短い承太郎やポルナレフは、いかに攻撃を掻い潜りつつDIOに接近して致命傷を与えるかというリスクの高い戦い方をせざるを得なくなってますし。 今考えればバカバカしい事ですが、子供の頃は雑誌掲載時はあんな結末だったけどコミックス収録時には彼らが生き残るストーリーに書き直してくれないかなと100%あり得ない妄想を本気でしてました。
