Jotaro does this throughout part 3, and again here. His true strength doesn’t come from his powerful stand or time stop ability (not that those aren’t incredibly powerful weapons in their own right), but in his ability to outsmart and play his opponent. In this case, he very likely hit Kira with a weaker and slower punch, then knelt down to make it seem like his wounds made him too weak to actually fight. Doing that made Kira comfortable and confident, so that he’d be careless with his attack, giving Jotaro the opening needed to beat the shit out of him
