They needed something to show that the AFL could compete with NFL teams in terms of talent and TV/radio audience, and this was the perfect opportunity to do so against a really good Baltimore Colts team

It's already been proven that the Buffalo Bills never could win at least one of their Super Bowl appearances. There's an episode of The X-Files where the Cigarette Smoking Man admits that the reason why he rigged it so that the Bills could never win the Super Bowl is because he doesn't like them. Super Bowl 20 conspiracy theory. The Patriots owner (Billy Sullivan) and his son were in financial ruins. The owed a bunch of creditors, as well as Michael Jackson a lot of money from the Jackson Victory tour, as they were investors in it. After a hot start, the Victory Tour bombed. Michael Jackson bet a lot of on the Bears. The theory goes that the Sullivans tanked the game to appease Michael Jackson. There is some anecdotal evidence from former Patriot Brian Holloway that the game plan from the coaches suddenly changed the night before the game, going from a running strategy to a passing strategy. Though he is a questionable character given his past transgressions. I am not saying this is true, just that this out there but under the radar.

Here's a theory: The Giants Super Bowl wins were part of deals with Satan himself. I think it’s just boils down to the fact that everyone hates Jim Harbaugh. Which, if we want to go down the rabbit hole even more, is why the Big 10 suspended Jim Harbaugh. They did that because they know that everyone hates Jim Harbaugh AND Ryan Day, and seeing them on the same field again would make the world crash into oblivion.
