Its move from AFC to UEFA in 2002 has been cited as the 21st century's first sportswashing case given Kazakhstan's authoritarian and repressive methods against its own citizens, and UEFA's inability to address this matter proved fatal as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Russia and Azerbaijan took up the Kazakhstan playbook to do the same evil businesses as we see today. Beautiful and well thought-out and paced video like always. I think footballers are a prime example of "Labor aristocracy" as Karl Kautsky proposed more than 100 years ago. These players most of the time come from the most impovireshed places and/or countries so they usually share a background of low education (specially in economics and history) and a of course a sense of "new richness" that they will try to protect. Because of this and thanks to social media feedback loop of confirmation bias and desinformation, the one that specially comes from far-right actors, makes a damper on how these players understand their reality and its surroundings, because they usually spend all of their youth pretty isolated from the world. These players, mostly without knowing, are tools of fascism the same as fascism is a tool of capitalism to suppress the worker movement (Socialism of the fools, like you pretty adequately quote in the video). It's pretty sad, because alot of these players seem like pretty decent people, but sadly end up eating up all of these conspiracy theories and right wing bullshit that are designed to keep down and poor most of these footballers own families.
