When discussing writing this song, Hui mentioned the struggle they had between making music the industry favors and creating the kind of music that they want to make. They decided to carve their own path, so the theme is resistance. The quotes are better attributed to Basquiat in the Road to Kingdom live performance which also has English subtitles (the words make it even better) and Hui's high notes are even more impressive live. As far as views go, remember this is a performance video, and they didn't promote the song the way you would a comeback. Finally, if Ed hasn't seen Shine yet, you should have him react to it because it's their most popular song (200M+) and it has restorative powers.

People truly sleep on Pentagon’s vocal ability and rapping as a whole. Wooseok and Yuto are killer rappers. Jinho and Hui are a couple of the best vocalists in the game. This song is from the reality show called “Road To Kingdom” where different underrated groups compete for a chance to participate on a show called “Kingdom”! This was their final song that they had to compose and produce for the finale! Hui hit that note LIVE. And even went slightly HIGHER. Pentagon also recently had their oldest and also another vocalist of the century, Jinho, go into the military. Y’all need to react to Pentagon’s Best Vocals y’all will go CRAZY I think you guys would actually be surprised to know that Pentagon is KNOWN for their happy/upbeat songs! Every single comeback up until Dr. Bebe was a bright concept of some sort. (The only exception would be I think their song Gorilla which is their debut). But every single had a held I beat vibe until these two! In Road To Kingdom, Pentagon reply showed their versatility as artists because most of their Preformances had a dark/creepy theme! LOL LOL about the views! If i may explain a bit or well trying to find explanation : Since it's a performance video and not an MV there were no promotion made out of it. This song is a release that came from a survival show they attended that it called road to kingdom. It's from "promising group" that did not get the attention of the public. So they performed the BASQUIAT during Road to Kingdom Final and this performance video was like a bonus. This show was very contestable in its process! Although all the groups were amazing it was more like a Popularity show based on the power/ number of your fandom than a fair show. When Pentagon made the las round with the performance of "Follow" every groups thought they will get 1st place and they ended up almost last. They still went on final because of their cumulated points but they were not able to get the crown to attend to the other survival show "KINGDOM". So Basquiat is kind of a protest song to this show. They basically saying : fuck up we don't need your crown to know that we are good, just watch. We will be a new Basquiat. (Basquiat is an artist gain recognition from his work very late and enthrone himself through his work i would say) Kingdom was supposed to air in August with groups like STRAY KIDZ, NU'EST, TXT, SEVENTEEN but none of them wanted to participate because they saw the downside of the show. You can find the episode of RTK & watch them because they are lot of amazing groups but hold your heart haha because this gonna be a roller coaster! Groups were pressured a lot, they were lot of plot twist, But you are going to discover other amazing groups.

Pentagon are so criminally underrated trust me, it’s the most frustrating as a fan to see them not get the recognition they deserve. If there’s any group I whole heartedly believe in, it’s them straight up nothing compares to them in my eyes. They’re just not popular despite having one of, in my opinion, the best songs in the entirety of k-pop, Shine. Non Universe might think their reaction is an overreaction.. but trust me THAT'S EXACTLY HOW I WAS WHEN I FIRST LISTEN TO THE SONG 😭 Listened.. not watch.. imagine~ Also, that's not acting.. that's PASSION. Pentagon made this sing for a competition, which they joined to showcase their talent to the mass media. In the competition they never get number 1 even though they worked hard creating a performance and arranging the songs THEMSELVES on top of having to practice and actually have to performed it LIVE. EVERY. SINGLE. STAGE. Until on the final day they just basically "Fuck it if nobody's gonna give us the crown WE'LL MAKE IT OURSELVES!!". Their goal all along was to be an artist who can create for a long time~ and i feel like this year that's what they are running after for.. they might never be as famous as other groups. But I believe they will be the longest running ARTISTS not even Idols.. ARTISTS. Hui might be the most known one for now.. but as fans I know the other members are as good as Hui..
