Just wish you could’ve played this in original key ,”solo starting in “A minor”,verse starting in C,we could’ve always transposed it “transpose button”to play in billy Joel’s key he’s playing live if we needed to.

U gotta mention the entirety of the solo is a blues scale riff but theres a few different blues scales such as minor blues and what Billy really likes - a blues pentatonic scale. Aint rocket science either, lol, these students can handle it😄

Great tutorial! Thank you. One thing to point out though - more out of interest than anything else - he is playing all of this is C on an electric grand and his engineer drops it by a tone. He does the same for NYSOM and any others that are too high. :)

hey idea for the videos, do a slow mo play through before doing the tutorial part. I am not exactly a noob, but everything I've learned has been through watching exactly what keys to press first very very slow, then speeding up over hours and hours of practice until I can do it faster than the original speed.

@@ruthanngreenberg49 That's exactly what I was wondering. I think it helps his voice range as you mentioned AND MOST IMPORTANTLY positions the solo for easier movements than playing in the key of C. I'm going to test it out though since I have yet to transpose and memorize the solo in a different key... :)
