I'm from the older generation when Rapier was nice and shiny state of the art. Originally mounted on tracked carriers intended for the former Shar of Iran. Cancelled quickly when the religious nutter took over that country. The tracked Rapier systems ended up in British service, along with Challenger 1. At the time Blowpipe and Javelin (SACLOS) constituted the other man portable close air defence system. Ask Falkland veterans, old dusty bin was a giant leap forward. Now Starstreak is indeed a weapon on a different level! Not the fastest, longest range or cheapest antiair weapon in the world. But it hits the sweet spot. Speed and range are good enough for engaging receding fast movers. It is deplorably flexible enough to be used by a single soldier from his shoulder or mounted on various other launch platforms. Added to this flexibility it can effectively engage ground targets. The system relatively easy to use, it is cheap to buy and easy to mass produce. (Given no supply chain issues.) I concur with your other half. It's the dogs bollocks of close air support systems. It's a shame every vehicle in the army inventory cannot be equipped with the system. I'm told the Navy are going to mount it on ships, which means it must be very easy to use!

This conflict is giving all the NATO Allie’s a chance to field test under actual combat conditions all their new toys and then allowing them to tweak the designs as weaknesses are revealed. Awesome. Moreover, it’s giving all our opponents a look at what could be aimed at THEM (but in much higher numbers and operated by more highly trained troops) if they get out of line!

The service ceiling for the Starstreak isn't 1000 meters, it's 7000 meters. You need to recheck your sources and avoid using Eurasian times.

I believe that's what the Boxer will end up doing as they can make mission specific pods that can turn a base variant into whatever is needed. There's even a tracked version of Boxer that has been developed to use the same pods.

@@dc-4ever201Boxer is a great platform but 4 main things that made the CVRT a great platform Boxer would fail there two types of platform Dedicated and Multirole generally want MBT,SPG and Light Tank as Dedicated platforms there is a exception to that rule as you can get SPG built on a MBT chassis and then generally anything else can be Multirole platform that what Boxer would fill but there is a exception for Multirole as well generally a IFV would be Multirole but sometime they need to be Dedicated Platforms like a extremely heavy armoured IFV.

Those aren't tow missiles, those are ADATS missiles. Basically a bradley with a rapid fire 25mm and 8 missiles that can hit air or ground units
