That’s just being a sucker for nostalgia. It would be my perfect type of racing game (city racing), but it shows its age. Most of the car sounds are spot on with the fundamental engine/exhaust note but we have no customization and only 1 custom paint job for every car.

Both of these games looked FAR better that anyone could expect so early in the lifecycles of their generations. PGR 4 would look good on Xbox One, and Driveclub might still be the best looking racing game when we take everything into account. And both weren't afraid of making unique driving physics (although i would argue PGR 4 was a bit more succesful, but Driveclub is still great). Not dumbed down mix of sim and arcade, but quite opposite mixture of more demanding elements of both styles.

I miss the time where games were actually made with passion and love. PGR4 is the perfect example of a game made by and for car enthusiasts. Every car feels unique. They don't feel like the same car copied and pasted over and over again with a different skin. The thing I love the most about this game is that the tachometer and speedometer changes according to your car. It isn't that generic speedometer that it's the same across all cars. I think that TDU 1 and 2 did the same thing back in the day. The only game that managed to come close to PGR4 in terms of love and passion for cars and car enthusiasts is Gran Turismo 7. Let's hope that TDU Solar Crown receives the same love as its older brothers.

4:40 its crazy how attention to detail has gone so far down, like it took Forza almost 20 years to release a game where the exhaust backfire randomly comes out of 1 exhaust instead of both when revving and shifting, yet PGR4 has it. in face im pretty sure the only other game franchise to have that detail is Need for Speed

It’s the era I miss, more than individual games as such. We were blessed with PGR in an era where you got the sense that the developers were truly passionate about and enjoying the content they released. No gimmicks, no smoke and mirrors, no avatars and no forced WiFi connection. Just fun, enthusiastic racing, attention to detail and the ability to view your cars and walk around them in your own display areas, just as an actual car fanatic would do at home.

When I got my hands on Xbox Original, I used to play the shit out of Project Gotham Racing 2. As a russian guy I was so excited about racing on the streets of Moscow. But my favorite part of PGR2 was multilingual soundtrack and real life radio stations in addition, which really could break the fourth wall back in a day. Sadly it's no longer a thing in modern racing games. I'm sure no one could ever achieve the same vibe as PGR series did.

They had to be. It wasn't an option to ship a broken game with the intention of releasing a patch in a few weeks. If your game was broken, that was it. The reviews would note it and your sales would suffer, so they actually put real effort. Games today, on the other hand, are made so sloppy that studios like Bethesda actually count on their fans/ modders fixing their bugs for them!

Amount of detail that has been put into this game. Every car has its own gauges this is a game from 2007 and modern games of today dont have that feature. The car sounds in PGR4 are so fantastic my favorite car sounds has to be the Toyota GT One, Ferrari 288 GTO Evo and the Callaway Sledgehammer the turbo sounds are just👌. This game deserves a remaster. Just update the driving physics, make it have steering wheel support and update the graphics to 60FPS then this game will be a true work of art.

This is one of the reasons PGR4 has to be one of best racing games of all time... everything in this game is so unique... it has a lot of variety ... weather effects... interior view for all cars and bikes... i still play it today!!! And you cannot forget that this is from 2007!!!! Its from wayyyyyyy back and still holds it to this day... such a cool game!! ❤

Me and my brother spent hours and hours on this. I loved the E60 M5 he had the Ferrari F350. It was great how you could pick any AI car to race with because you could pick their skill level making for really cool replays

I've played all the Forzas since Motorsport 2, always been a massive fan. FM4 was the peak of Motorsport. FH3 was the peak of Horizon. In my humble opinion.

this is so nostalgic, as kids me and my brothers would play splitscreen on pgr4 and my god it was so fun, just so much memories, id race with bikes while my brother would race with cars, and hed try to ram us into walls and shit it was fustrating but looking back now it was bout bring us bros together, i remember racing with the y2k, that thing has no turning at all, and the kudos points youd get from doing drifts and stunts, its been so long since ive heard of this game. i miss the classic 360 games.

Playing the PGR games on my Xbox and Xbox 360 with my dad was my childhood. Absolutely loved PGR 4 and it still holds up so well today in comparison to a lot of the current gen of racing games. Bizarre seriously put dedication and love into this game for gamers and car enthusiasts

I bought an original Xbox at launch and this was one of the first games I bought (Halo being the other). I still have a lot of love for PGR. It was both incredibly frustrating but also satisfying to nail the perfect line.

For some time now, I've set this as the barometer for sounds aswell. Thankfully it has the right choices of cars to go back to and replay and enjoy aswell! Physiccs seemed spot on too- just the right amount of sim/arcade feel! I do still invariably fire this game up and enjoy a few beers on a weekend evening if nothing else is going on! haha this is defnitely the one series that should've carried on development into the latest era of gaming and consoles for sure
