Watching the way Warholm’s lead leg came off the 8th hurdle, I’m concerned that he may have injured himself at that moment. You can see his knee buckle inwards, and at that point is when he begins to fall behind. Incredible race by Dos Santos. I’ve thought for a long time that he’s got the most potential of any 400m hurdler.
@DakonBlackblade22 жыл бұрын
I don't think he did, what happened is that he was not in proper shape since he wasn't even competing this year and he tried to run side by side with dos Santos and be competitive, eventually he simply gassed completely and slowed down a lot.
@Elliottklassen2 жыл бұрын
@@DakonBlackblade2 If he faded more gradually, I might agree (though I think Dos Santos would have caught him regardless, because at least to some degree I do agree with you), but he clearly came off that hurdle poorly, which at the very least killed his momentum and wasn’t able to get it back. But his left knee very clearly buckled inwards on that hurdle. I think it was a combination of factors. I don’t mean to be giving Karsten an excuse (like I said, I don’t think he was going to win anyways), but I’m just expressing my future concern that he may have injured himself further.
@DakonBlackblade22 жыл бұрын
@@Elliottklassen He did come off the hurdle poorly but I think that only happened cause he was already fading and did not have the energy to attack the hurdle properly at the speed he was trying to maintain. Btw I'm not saying this to diminish Warholm in anyway, the man is a beast, but sadly he has had a very shitty year so far with the injury keeping him away from training and competition, I think it was kind of a miracle he even managed to make the finals considering all the adversities he faced this year tbh.

It's not so easy. To break this Record the guy must be running at least 43.8 in the 400m flat. That is, he must be in the world top 10 of this event. Moreover, its even harder to keep running 43 for much time. The level of trainning commitment is very high. Let alone the problems with injuries.
