Well done as always. What a wonderfully obsolete machine! I (fondly?) remember these busy departures and arrivals in the soup. They gave me a sensation I always tried to avoid, namely that I had earned what they paid me. In the pre-GPS, pre-automation era, SID's were uncommon and STAR's were few and far between, at least in the U.S. Everything was radar vectors and assigned altitudes. At a busy aerodrome, the controller would barely stop talking long enough to take a drag from his cigarette. And there's no more delightful way to spend an hour than in a holding pattern with half a dozen airplanes below. Surely the golden age of aviation. Smoke 'em if you got 'em. Best regards

I'm a bit envious because I haven't flown a sim since FSX and now I've only got a laptop so I'd have to spend quite a bit of money to get back into it. The other problem is that I tend to get a bit too 'immersed' in flight simulation so I tend to neglect other things that need attention around the house. Owing to the fact I just had the basic FSX, I never got around to the 'cold and dark' with full pre-flight set up. Even the navigation process wasn't a real representation of what's required. Makes you realise the workload the guys up the front go through.

Hi Ivor, Yes, it’s always good fun going back to this sort of flying. I suspect some F28’s may have been retrofitted with an INS, perhaps even GPS but originally, I believe the aircraft was only equipped with VOR’s / NDB’s (which was not unusual for the time). Back in the days of the F28, all SID’s / STAR’s would have been based on conventional nav - ie all tracks would have been based off some sort of navaid fix. I hope that clarifies things a little. There are some tweaks that would improve the reality of the experience. For example, the camera movement in these sorts of videos always seems to be slightly jerky and unnatural. Maybe this could be changed by the progammers by making it smoother. The external camera shots of a plane in flight always disappoint me. The camera always keeps perfect pace with the plane. It would dramatically improve if the camera imitated the viewpoint of another plane trying to fly close and changing its position. Also, I notice that the lights on the dash appear one flat colour. It might look more realistic to change that to a bulb effect, where the middle of the light is brighter than the edges.

just curious. How realistic is flight simulator if you turn off one of the functions. Does it affect the flight?
@IntotheBlueSimulations7 ай бұрын
Hi Craig, Do you mean, would turning off an engine, or hydraulic pump etc, affect the aircraft’s behaviour? It varies from addon to addon but, overall MSFS is somewhat mid-range in terms of its realism. Most addons are fairly basic in their implementation however, certain addons like the F28 (featured here) are far more complex; for example, Just Flight have modelled things to such a degree, that turning off the aircraft’s hydraulic pumps, will actually result in the F28 “feeling” heavier on the controls. If one were to cut an engine, all of the systems powered by that engine would be lost and so on. I hope that clarifies things a little? All the best : )

Nahhh..... plenty of other channels for GA. The DHC-2 isn't a great model in MSFS. IMO of course.
@IntotheBlueSimulations7 ай бұрын
Hi Beaufighter, I’ll happily add the DHC-2 to my list of potential future videos. I try and fly a reasonable variety of aircraft here on the channel and alternate types between uploads, as far as is practicable : ) Cheers and all the best!

Just brilliant! Got everything, except Skydrol fluid smell Speedbrake should be deployed earlier. Add more power. (Check original checklist). Check blow in mechanism with selected vs deploy indication. Flashback to ice detector probe. 7 small holes and a larger one, measure diff press when ice clogging. Sensor was of course dubbed Snow white and the 7 dwarfs. (Reason why I remember it)

Thanks very much once again, Øystein! Haha, “Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs” - a little bit more polite than the nickname for autopilot pitch control switch then (from what I recall you mentioning previously) XD Thanks for watching / commenting - much appreciated!

Hi Ray, The PA is just something that I edited into the video. The Just Flight F28, does allow the user to play boarding music though and I believe that sound file can be changed out, such that one could change it to a boarding announcement (I haven’t tried myself). I need to switch back to TrackIR... so much more movement with it compared to Tobii (with my G9 monitor). Great video (production values are top notch as usual) and showing of the F28, love this birb. Edit: oh, what happened with the wingflex on landing, I don't remember seeing it jitter like that. Quirk of the replay tool?

Hi ML, I haven’t tried the Tobii myself; I considered a switch (it would be nice to do away with any wires) but, I’ve always been happy with TrackIR and “if it ain’t broke”. . . I’m really glad you enjoyed the flight! The wing flex was indeed a quirk of the replay tool : ) Many thanks and all the best!

Can this plane be used in VATSIM?
@IntotheBlueSimulations7 ай бұрын
Hi SG, Absolutely (it has VHF radios and a transponder). It would be a pretty high workload though haha. There is the option to fit a basic GPS but, otherwise it’s conventional nav only (so you might require quite a bit of Radar vectoring). I hope that clarifies things. All the best : )

@IntotheBlueSimulations7 ай бұрын
Hi Leif, The 4090 is indeed very expensive and somewhat overkill for MSFS. I do however use my computer for other things as well and at any rate, I considered the hardware somewhat of a “reinvestment” into the channel. All the best : )

Hi STC, Many thanks for the kind words, I’m really happy to hear that you’re enjoying the content! What's with the "set THROUGH to....". Why are they set through, and not just set to...? You love superfluous words 😄 Like the flight controls being in the "correct SENSE". I am of course only jesting and really enjoy your videos. The F28 is a real treasure in MSFS.

Hi Bob, Haha well, I mostly couldn’t tell you where the superfluous words come from but, I’m glad you’re otherwise enjoying the content ; ) “Correct sense” was definitely something that I picked up in flight school and I would imagine many other expressions were picked up along the way. iam using x-plane and its so sad that its a true flight simulator but for graphics its retarding
@IntotheBlueSimulations5 ай бұрын
X-Plane isn't as pretty as MSFS however, things have improved significantly in recent months and with a bit of modding, I think the sim can now look rather great (under certain conditions); it's not as graphically beautiful but, arguably more visually realistic. I like both sims for different reasons : ) Happy flying and all the best!
@bv3bv3348 ай бұрын
When will graphics be able to accurately replicate the movement of humans?
@IntotheBlueSimulations7 ай бұрын
Hi Bv3, I think it can (more or less) be done now however, to do so would probably be too much of an FPS sink, with something like MSFS. We’ll probably have to wait a few more years, before we start seeing realistic crew members etc. All that being said, I think even with current technology, Asobo could create a more convincing first officer than they have done. . . All the best : )

@IntotheBlueSimulations7 ай бұрын
Hi MH, Most of the choppiness comes from video recording / editing / processing and KZbin compression (I experience much greater fluidity in the sim directly). That being said, I’ve finally managed to get DLSS working in a satisfactory fashion so, hopefully that will smooth things out in future videos. All the best

As far as I’m aware: British Midland NEVER Operated the Fokker F-28 Fellowship! Over the decades they operated the following aircraft types:- Douglas DC-3 Dakota. Canadair C-4 Argonaut. Handley-Page Dart Herald. BAC 1-11. Boeing 707-300C. Fokker F-27 Friendship. MD DC-9. Fokker-100. Fokker-70. Boeing 737-300/400 and 500 series. Airbus A320. Airbus A321. Airbus A330. I was a Pilot with British Midland Airways on the Boeing 737-300/400/500 Fleet from 1994-1999……
@IntotheBlueSimulations7 ай бұрын
Hi Pikachu, You’re correct. I did mention this historical inaccuracy during the video’s introduction; I have a soft spot for the airline though (so I thought it would be nice to bring BD back, at least virtually) and I enjoy the F28 in MFSF - hence the combination. I have created / made available a number of fictitious and real-world Midland liveries for the sim, just to try and keep some memory of the airline alive (and of course, for people to enjoy). I hope that clarifies things. All the best : )

@@IntotheBlueSimulations Hi Buddy. Yeh. Looks fabulous I must say. Quite a powerful little beast the F-28, with two Rolls-Royce Spey’s on it, same as the BAC 1-11 and the RAF’s Blackburn Buccaneer. As well as the Nimrod Maritime Recon. aircraft! I think the Fokker-70 had Tay Turbofans but not sure. I could have gone on the Fokker Fleet but I wanted to stay on the Boing 737. Far more route variety and it’s a Boeing. The Fokker-100 and 70 were virtually an Airbus with a control column instead of a side stick. Terrific job on your graphics though. Great Job! Best Regards from England. ❤️🏴🇬🇧🇺🇸❤️. Ps. After British Midland, I stayed with Boeing. I went to Virgin Atlantic at LHR/LGW on the Boeing 747-400 in 1999. Had to take very early retirement due to health problems. I flew it for 15 years though!

I used to watch the Midland 737’s and Fokkers going into East Mids; as a kid, I always liked the look / design of the Fokker (I do have a real soft spot for the classic 737’s though).
