Great build and review! I really like all your critiques and your suggestions for improvement. I am impressed and disappointed nothing but the vrms throttled. I wonder if it is worth some future diy videos experimenting with how a smaller PSU, vrm heatsinks/fans, or even just running the computer outside of its case to compare temps would be like. Anyway, thanks for showing the emulation stuff. Side thought, this might be one of the few mini PC that can run 7 displays..? Maybe useful for some niche work. Keep up the great work!

I think I would much rather see the GPU mounted on the other side of the motherboard. It opens so many more options for dealing with size constraints. Still a great box for the price, considering you get a board, case, and power supply altogether for sub 200 in a small form factor.

I have the AMD version (X300). R7 5700X, Noctua cooler, and RX 6600 GPU. I can't tell you how loud the fan is, because I can't hear it over the ambient noise level. The most I've been able to pull out of the wall is 310W, and have yet to see a thermal throttle. I love it.

I was considering X300 version, but it's a MB with PCIe 3.0 and some modern cards could lose some performance. A new x500 Deskmeet could be great.

Excellent review, thanks a lot! I'm looking for balanced mini PC's with discrete graphic card, if Asrock fix some little issues, this one could be a good device. Instead the expensive and infrautilised i7, I'd install i5 even i3, a SFX PSU and a cooler a bit larger.

I guess the AMD version might be better in that way that 65W CPUs can actually reach their full potential, as their top power consumption is lower. And they don't power throttle even in the deskmini

I have the AMD version with a 5700X, and I love it. The only "downside" is that the PCIe is Gen 3, but any graphics card that will fit in the case won't max out Gen 3 anyway. So if you go the AMD route, you might as well get the 5600G/5700G with the iGPU. Paired with a 6600 or 3060, it makes a great1080p gaming setup.

My first ever DIY PC was the Asrock DeskMini X300 which I love so much. I just gave it to my son and have build the Asrock DestMeet. So far it is great! It is with AMD Ryzen 5 5600G and Corsair 32GB 3200 RAM. In the BIOS by default AUTO it opens as 2133Mhz. The BIOS version is 1.4. Is it safe to tweak it to right speed 3200Mhz? Will work OK or crash? Is there any danger in doing so? Sould I change also the voltage- Will I feel big difference between the Mhz?
@Robtech

It should work fine without a voltage increase. It will increase graphics performance. You won't notice in Windows, but for gaming it makes a difference.

You might 'but why' the iGPU for gaming but it would be really useful if you wanted to use something like that as a Linux box or something else that didn't need a GPU. I could use something like that to partially replace my laptop at home if I wanted to for instance.
@Robtech

The "But why?" meme is in reaction that the Deskmini already does the job at a cheaper price and much smaller form factor than the Deskmeet, which is mentioned near the end. This box is too big for an iGPU build in my opinion. I use the Deskmini daily myself 👍

The whole point of a custom build is...to custom build it. Why buy this when it restricts your choices for PSU, CPU, CPU cooler, and GPU? Doesn't make sense. Plus it doesn't come with wifi like 99% of motherboards do. The low price tag starts to look less appealing when you consider all the sacrifices being made. Also, I thought humanity agreed to not pay for proprietary components unless they served some innovative and necessary purpose?

It’s a barebone pc, you just need to buy processor, ram and storage (and gpu if you need it) The sacrifices that you mentioned is considered a good thing here, the target audience for this product is differrent from custom pc One example is, a company buying multiple pc for their office but need a certain processor / ram requirement that prebuilt pc doesn’t offer, it really helps the IT team to order less part and build it faster If you want to custom build your own pc, there are a lot of other cases out there, and this is definitely not one od them
