i accidentally found out that hestia's sprint boon that destroys ranged projectiles completely nullifies most of eris's attacks including the purple sniper shot and completely trivializes the whole boss fight.

SOOOO glad supergiant games became so large and popular. I remember Transistor being the first game I played start to finish in one sitting because I was so enthralled. I even emailed Darren Korb asking about his chord progression in one of the songs that sounds like a Radiohead song too! He never responded but I don't think I've ever been that inspired to reach out by a piece of media ever. The are artists in every sense fr. Wasn't a huge fan of the pyre gameplay but the story was awesome too! Supergiant games is one of the only companies I see nowadays taking risks and actually trying to innovate, its amazing.

its the only game company I started to actually follow; just because every game they've released since I played their initial games AND their initial games (transistor and bastion) have literally all been bangers and honestly extremely diverse gameplay wise. Supergiant has a fondness for destroyed worlds so that is actually a common story theme in their games. I got PTSD when I saw you take Shocking Loss (Zeus legendary) at the end of the run. The last and only time I took that boon, it triggered during the second phase of the Chronos fight on one of those sand-timer enemies during the 1 shot attack. The stasis effect from the sand-timer death procced right outside the safe area and ended my run... Thought the chances of this same thing happening with a sprint build AND Shocking Loss was SURELY going to relive my traumatic experience.

To your point about Arachne and the Keepsake, I think there is a broken interaction with the Hepheastus boon Trusty Shield that gives armor every room combined with the Keepsake and the Arachne buff will only compound it but unfortunately I found this combo while doing silly shit going upwards. What I'm saying is even if you break armor, you will still get the maximum armor you had before the encounter +4 for the rest of the night after you complete the encounter all the way until the end. I ended up walking into Eris room with +100 armor only after putting the Keepsake on for Thessaly and I bought a +20 armor boost from Charon that also permanently added to the stack. This doesn't seem to be what is intended but it was pretty crazy knowing I was basically having basically health that not only fully regened every room but grew every room and would not break the keepsake even if the armor broke. It was a very similar vibe to Moon Water + Aphrodite Epic boon. Add Arachne's boon that gives gold for having armor, and it pretty much is the same if not better.

Sprint build ftw. The bonk sprint plus Argent Skull hammer that gives it explosions on pickup made for a sick combo. It got me past Cerberus for the first time and within a room of Chronos. Tons of fun

I played around with an aphro/zeus build on the medea skull recently while half aiming for the boon and got it, and you can kinda ignore the entire weapon part entirely since the boon is that strong, but i do wish i had either hephaestus+vent or apollo on the dash instead of pash dash. It isn't merciful end really, since you only have 1 dash and sprinting doesn't get you i-frames so it's inherently less safe, but it's still really strong Also ive never had a bad run where hestia was a part of it tbh her mana regen, cast, and cast placement boons are just too good

First chronos was similar with a heroic heph sprint. New magic is zeus cast with projectile ww and glowing coal from hest. Take either zeus or hest regen. Aspect of charon are. The rest is gravy. I didn't even have an attack boon when I beat whats-her-name up top lol.

Average time it takes to finally beat Chronos the first time for most people is about 50 tries, including going to the Surface that calculation. Took me 54. I personally beat Eris before I beat Chronos, and now am on a five winstreak against him and her respectively.

50 is kinda crazy. Pretty sure I was in the 20s. First win was staff with Poseidon specials couples with Zeus for chain lightning with their duo and the double projectile hammer. Got it going really early so I was able to focus on health and defense upgrades for most of the run and smashed Chronos.

I back the claim that the trigger for the incantation appearing is the Olympian keepsakes because I unlocked the endgame incantation first because I had never gifted Aphrodite a necter because I thought I forgot to give her one once I got past the necter shortage at the start

Tried to replicate this and sure enough landed the Romantic Spark duo in the Fields of Mourning. With only 80 Blitz damage I couldn't manage to increase, I was overall pretty disappointed with the addition. Smithy Sprint itself did most of the damage by far (over 700 with an instant Heroic). Actually, haven't been impressed with any of the Duo boons yet.

Mana card is underrated imo. Half of the mana boons suck and the others have good boons you want to take instead. 5 grasp is high but its worth it when omega moves are so strong.

The magick boons are very easy to use. Spend all your magick killing stuff, then go to a corner. Standing in your own cast or standing still for a second is free when the enemies have to come to you

nah compared to the utility of some of the other cards you unlock, the tradeoff becomes pretty unfavorable, especially when you will almost definitely get a boon during the run that serves the same purpose. And Hera's magick regain is absolutely cracked (Zeus, Hestia, and Poseidon are also just as good if not better than the mana card imo). Add on the chance to get lower mana costs from Hermes and Chaos. It's def useful for early game, but unnecessary later on

The Heph sprint feels so clunky to me right now, because it stops your mana regen if you continue sprinting after activating the blast, which you usually will be sprinting to evade, so essentially you will never have proper mana regen. It rly bonks the viability of it in the long run. I v highly dislike the current way most actions stop passive mana regen.

Hermes makes sprint builds very safe; Nitro Boost or something? I got an epic that gives you 3 instances of invulnerability per chamber, pairs really well with poseidon. With enough sprint speed most stuff misses too

I am surprised by how well balanced each god is. I first had gods I thought were bad but certain weapoms and certain gods can really change that and they function well. I would say that apollo is the most boring of the gods with nothing exciting, and often a better supporting god for a main build.

I think it's just a different headspace you need to get into when playing this one compared to the first. I've found that around run 10-20 is when things started to click. The more you plan for specific boon synergies the easier of a time you'll have. If you have trouble with the Root seeker or other projectile encounters try to target hestia's dash boon that deletes projectiles. Also with that encounter specifically try and dash to the edges of the arena for some breathing room. Overall just pay attention to that boss bc they'll telegraph when they're going to make the next attack. after a while they become one of the easiest bosses in the game. Good Luck!
