in case you missed it, the big shield dude, it WAS an enforcer coat, the type of coat that marcus used to wear back then, it was just worn like a cape or poncho. A lot of comment haters are like "Why they trust this random drunk guy". And he's an enforcer, or at least was one, and he, maddie and "fishguy" were seen EXPLICITLY fighting the chemtanks, so when we know there's a potential traitor above ground, would you risk picking random folk that could be a double agent, or would you trust the people you bled with on the batterfield and literally protected eachother's backs against the known enemy? And while we see him enjoying a drink and being down on his luck in an alley, vi was there too, no difference in circumstances. We just happen to know Vi as viewers but we dont know shield guy as viewers... We at least know that the guards let him in as an officer (and vi was his +1) at the gate even though they didnt have a memorial invite, so he is at least a bit respected or known as a piltie enforcer by colleagues at the gate when they just waved him in... maybe he's a homeless veteran, known around the active force, but just down on his luck. And again, trust those who fought alongside you, not those who just said they would.

I think those gold stickers that Mel has in her skin might be some kind of protection. The moment that rocket was about to hit the council, the gold in her skin became shiny and she turned around. This protected her and Jayce from the explosion. All the others got hurt or died. And I believe her mom ran away from Noxus because being with Mel could be the only way she’s protected (episode 3 will explain why she’s hiding in Piltover)

You know, Arcane might be one of the most expensive animated series. But it's also a perfect case example of "you get what you pay for", because damn if it ain't worth every penny. This series is one of those rare times when business and art manage to work together to achieve something great. I actually appreciate that the marketing for the show didn't descend into the realm of gaudy promotions and monetization (ie. breakfast cereals, dorito bags with Arcane art etc.).

My IMMEDIATE thought watching this was Mel's mom being behind this (haven't watched ep 2 or 3 yet) 1. Explains why Mel was weirdly spared during the initial attack even though Jayce was about to be killed 2. Explains why her troops just HAPPENED to show up at the last second to save everyone important 3. Leans more into her immediate attempts in S1 to shove herself into everyone's politics

Honestly i feel like these three episodes were kind of a mess, i know they are building into something bigger, but everyone is kind of in their own Quest, a lot of things happening at the same time and so fast, a lot of new faces too, with very little involvement, i think this season need more episodes than 9 to tell everything they want to tell without rushing through it.

Guys, I think Mel survived out of pure luck. There was no shield, maybe it was just a stylistic choice that her back was shining before the attack. Just like some of them died, some of them didn't and some got injured that's all. Of course I could be wrong and she has some kind of protection but I don't think so

That is possible, but there is this league lore fanatic who recently posted a video trying to show every little detail and reference so far. The moment he talked about that event, he was able to show in the scene where the rain falls through the broken roof, there was a circle in the room, seemingly untouched by the rockets explosion. Mel and jayce were standing in that spot, so the idea is some kind of protective barrier, or an even deeper reason connected to another character in the lore, saved them but not the others. Its Necrit on youtube if you're curious and want to dive deeper. Obviously nothing is confirmed, but it is pretty heavily implied
