Really they are both good platforms, so just get whatever your drawn to more. I have an STI and I admit that mod per mod the evo makes more power and does feel more "raw" of a car. Knowing that one might ask, well why did I buy the STI? Well simply I was more drawn to the STI with its looks, branding, flat motor, exhaust note that has some character to it etc. Also for me making a power house wasn't my intention ,if it were I would've went with a different platform like a mustang GT and threw on boltons and a supercharger. I was looking for a fun 4 door turbo car. I also wanted some car comforts such as a "decent interior, fold down rear seats, bigger gas tank etc, which the STI offers but not the evo.

Martin Umaguing Evo is faster it has a much bigger stock turbo. I'm running an fp green turbo on my 06 sti 100% meth. Evos running fp greens or similar sized turbos will not walk away from me like that. Stock STI pistons will eventually crack after 400whp depending on how you drive it.

I have owned a built both of these cars. 4 years ago, I gave it up and moved onto BMW. I am honestly more impressed with their "out the box" platform. Though modding bmw's heavily becomes a challenge because the ecu isn't as open source. But bolt-on vs bolt-on without changing the turbo or injector size. My 435iX (AWD) hit 410whp/460wtq. Love these cars because the community is so big. But once you start doing mods per gain and money spent. I have to give it to BMW.

I have personally walked a few EVOs around my way in my '15 STI. That being said, I'm a car enthusiast, so I love things about a lot of cars and don't get caught up in the "rivalry" thing so much. I like my STI more than my C63 AMG in ways, but I still like the EVO and would probably have one too

Had a cammed/tbe Evo 8 RS and now a '15 Sti stage 3'd(just a full fuel system/downpipe/cai) the 4G/4B dual scroll off the Ex manifold turbo will ALWAYS spool and get away from a single scroll, 5 feet of exhaust piping EJ. Thats where subarus have to drop $$ to get spooling. EWG bandaid helps but doesnt fix slow. That hawkeye has the coveted 1yr only gear ratios but lacks the newer '15+ steering(which is 95% evo steering...almost but not as good STILL after all these years) ....THE few things that Scoob kills Evo are the turning radius for a daily(no more reversing in u-turns w Scoobs!) And folding rear seat, + stealerships are everywhere. The Evo is 10% more chassis everywhere with its aluminum rear LCA's w adjustable camber is a big win w Evo. Scoob guys have to spend 3-500 for LCA's to adjust camber. You gotta spend Porsche $$ on a subaru flat 4 to get it to run hard - rewarded in the end I guess. Its the price of owning a flat engine w miles of manifold underneath wether its UEL or EL its still miles of piping. EJs need a low mount snail like Killer Bee is perfecting at moment and the FA20 has from factory.

I own a 2006 WRX STI & a 2015 EVO Final Edition. I honestly can say with or without bolt ons the EVO is still the winner on looks & power. The EVO cost less to make more power even with bolt ons & a proper tune on stock turbo. BTW... a 2006 WRX STI is still more powerful than the newer STI's. I own both cars so yeah I'm speaking from experience.

I bought the 17 limited STI in June and i dont like the drone from the factory performance exhaust so I'm looking for any ideas on a set up that is mostly drone free inside but still loud outside. It's my second STI and i notice sometimes it seems when you want to hit it the car is like I'm not in the mood and seems to be lacking the HP. I dont remember my Ecli[pse GST ever having that issue. I also remember it was smooth all the way to 7500 RPM. That 4g63 was a very good motor.

I have a subie, I almost got an Evo but too rough for daily and being a family and active guy, I throw my bike on top, fold seats back and pack aton of stuff for travel. Sure you won't have as much fun like that in Evo. Otherwise power wise, Evo is better but I chose Subaru for adventure reasons plus the sound.....oohh my oh my.
