Enjoyed again :) Just FYI 1. Han-bok(복) : (Traditional) Korean Clothes Han-ok(옥) : (Traditional) Korean House 2. Namsangol Hanok Village Embarrassingly, I didnt' know such place existed. Seoul tried to maintain some of the old-form of traditional village, they managed to gather that part of the city and made into multi purpose village in 1998. 3. You've donated your 500 won after getting that Pocari Sweat :) 4. Putting locks on the fence between lovers kind of started years ago. After that, it just became a thing for everyone who visit there. Seoul once had to stop people because they rusted and were just too heavy for the fences, but they decided to support it to be a cultural thing. 5. The lining up restaurant is one of the famous raw-beef dish restaurant. 6. Tteok-bok-ki(떡볶이)'s tteok is the rice-cake which you thought was cheese earlier. Unlike western food, most of korean food have 'paring food' to eat with not just that very dish. ex. tteokbokki should go with the Eomuk(Fish cake) soup and maybe Sun-dae(Blood sausage) or Twigims(Assorted Fries). ex2. chicken feet dish is very spicy and it really is not to eat on its own. It's Anju(Food for alcohol) and pairs well with mild carbs dishes like rice balls or the gimbab you ordered later. p.s. those gimbab is a simple version of ordinary gimbab (there's just too much to say...haha). It goes well, again, with some strong flavoured dishes. p.s.2 if you're still around in Busan, I will take you to local places and show you how to enjoy. 7. Korean soup based dishes are very hot, it is not just ok to slurp in Korea, you should slurp in Korea lol and enjoy the raw hot-ness of the food without burning. And you are meant to add Kimchi in either on your noodle or to your mouth while youre chewing the noodle and balace the flavour, and at the time you swallow them, take the bowl and drink a sip of the soup for easier/fulfilling swallow.. Then drink the shot of soju to cleans. and repeat. Yay! 8. Mungbin Pancake (Bindaetteok) is paired with pickled onion and Macgully(Rice wine). Just like you'd have ketchup and coke with your potato fries.
@giapark1234 Жыл бұрын
wow, thanks for all the explanations! If you don't mind i'd like to just add to #8 Mungbin Pancake = Nokdoojun (녹두전).

Actually, Korean Food culture tends to pursue personal combination. This means that you can try to make combination with your fav flavors. One of most unfortunate thing in my side is you didn't dip your Kimbab at tteokbokki source ㅠㅠ. Ps. And I recommend foreigners who want to travel Korea especially Seoul, Please don't go myeong-dong. Some retailers could overcharge the price (not all retail just particular) and prices are more than expensive than local area.

Pancakes like Hessie Brown you mentioned are mung bean pancakes and they need to be dipped in soy sauce Mung bean pancakes are delicious if you dip them in soy sauce. If you just eat it, it's not good because it doesn't have salt

To help with your Korean pronunciation, just think of adding the letter "h" after every vowel or combination of vowels. It will generally work. So, if you can say ah (as in saying ah when you go to the doctor, etc for the following vowels), eh, ih, oh, and uh, you can correctuly pronounce most Korean words. So when you are pronouncing hanbok, prounounce it as hahn bohk. And you can prounounc Namsan Hanok Village as Nahm Sahn Hahn Ohk Village. Also, the eo combination of vowels is usually pronounced like a u as in uh. So when you went to Myeongdong, you could pronounce it as Myuhng Dohng.

29:17 "Gluttonous rice" 😂😂😂 I think you meant to say "glutinous rice," which is sweet rice. Gluttonous means fat or excessive. I don't believe those stir-fried, spicy rice cakes are made with sweet rice. It's just normal short-grain rice, that's commonly eaten in Korea and Japan. There are rice cakes made with sweet rice, but I don't believe those are. I could be wrong.
