I've never played either game but I will say I love how close both Stupendium and Harry get to what I've heard from the "Meet the team" vids Valve put out..they get pretty close except for Stupendium's Engy..not quite there but..well..he's British trying to do a VERY southern accent that's rather distinct since it's an actual character instead of his more somber Red Dead 2 song where he's playing a generic old west cowboy lamenting the death of the old west as he knows it. Also..just the amount of hats Stupendium actually has is kinda mind boggling..might actually be close to the amount in TF2 when he made the vid.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but you missed several double entendres, puns, and jokes; but in your defense it’d be easier to count the bars without clever wordplay. My favorites are the engineer’s “hundred degrees” but cause he has several degrees and he had a pretty *hot* bar going on there, Demoman’s M.O. / ammo bit, sniper’s true forte / 2Fort line, spy’s mother bit calling back to him having an affair with Scout’s mother (also being scout’s father) and the “debonair with deadly flair” line, and the totally admissible pyro lines; met your match / strike a match / strike the match off the scoreboard as well as his charcoal soul internal rhyme. Sorry to drag this out, there was so much you were bound to miss some, it just happened to be some of my favorite bits, and in all fairness it took several rewatches to catch them all, not to mention googling “millinery” for the “military millinery” line, ironically a millinery is a person who makes fancy women’s hats and everyone in the song is a guy. Suggestion for songs like these where its ensemble or there's sections to each verse (in this case 3 sections per verse from one attack class character, one defense class character, one support character not necessarily in that order) watcyh each section all the way through without pausing, it'll let you appreciate the music part, Flow, visuals, etc, and then rewind that section and do the intermittent pausing to look at the lyrics and references etc parts. I've always found reactions that do that generally have better structure in their analysis and less things slip through the cracks. Of course this may not work fr you specifcially, everyone's style is different, but I reccomend trying it at least once! ESPECIALLY for something like Stupendium or JT music or Dan Bull etc etc, as the usually have that exact kind of structure as shown here. But again, you might find it doesnt work as well and if you find that to be the case no worries, it's just probably at least worth experiementing with. You clearly have a lotof knowledge on these kind of works (as the comedy musician bit implies) but there are times it seems like your're stumbling trying to keep up, espeically in one like this where the flow is wayyyyy more fast paced than pletny of Stupendium's other works. And as for the whole "I'll probably watch it in full uninterrupted on my own time to fully enjoy it", don't get the wrong idea: most people I've sseen who watch reaction channels, this definitely applies to myself, love when the reactor can appreciate the work itself but also usually more than anything else want to see if the person *enjoys* the work. That's why you have so many reaction channels that are decently popular even if they're in no way an expert on what they're reacting to, because they express their enjoyment. There's a psychological reason for this but without going into too much depth (psych major speaking) in simple terms its a sort of validation, they love this song to the point they want to see someone else's initial reaction to see if they feel that same enjoyment from it. ESPECIALLY with less mainstream things like these pseudo-underground musical artists, it gives that idea that "it's something to me and not so popular that it's a given I know and like it, but at the same time now I know there are other people who like and appreciate it as well! All that said though, you did a good job as always, in fact your lack of familiarity let you catch things that someone who is fixated on the TF2 part entirely might not catch (IE a Jumper being a British name for sweater, the Muhammad Ali reference, etc) a very special example being "No need to Rush ya" cause the lineitself is about a weapon that slows down enemies as it hits, I myself never even noticed that "Rush Ya, Russia" bit cause I directly link it to the following line that name drops that slowdown weapon The Natasha. So hey even as someone who knows every single one of these characters to death you helped me find a new double meaning in a lyric!

Wow, thanks for the novel! 😅 in all seriousness, I appreciate when someone is articulate enough to leave a well written, well thought out response to one of my videos. It's a rare thing these days, and I thank you for it. I'm not sure if I'll be able to incorporate your suggestion of waiting for the three character verse to finish before pausing, as I tend to want to talk about a line as I've heard it, and waiting that long would make me miss mentioning lines as I likely wouldn't remember them all after so much blurring by me at once. That said, I'm also not going to pause at EVERY line either as I'm trying to absorb so much and enjoy as well as react to it. I try to find a balance between those. I'm likely going to miss a line or two, but only because I just spoke about the line before it, heh. Thanks again!

There's a 2nd version of this song with an alternate ending on Harry101's channel, that ending is a Portal 2 crossover (because Harry101 does a lot of Portal 2 themed music and animation). Similar to when Dan Bull and Stupendium did their "2 alternate endings" Frostpunk song.

Yeah, if you read the description above you'll see I found out about that after I finished filming.

You were mostly right about the double entendre; it also extends to the "socially awkward" and potentially offensive.

Why do Brits call it a jumper? It's derived from an old French word, “jupe" which was a type of short coat. At some point in time the word in English became “jump" and then eventually “jumper" and became used to describe what we now call a jumper (Sweater).

Stupendium just released a new song about among us, you should watch it when you can, was quite good, and maybe since he did collab with Dan Bull show the alternative ending in the same video, your choice. I just want to see your reaction to it. Good video btw.

Thanks! Yeah, I figured he and Dan would do something like that, so I checked with them and my reaction will have both endings. Sorry this one didn't!

Good as always... although I've never seen a youtuber using the keys to play-pause/FF/etc (J > 10 sec) It's far less invasive than the mouse e-e. So that's my only recomendation... I like your channel!

8:38 slight annoyance i have with this song is the confusion between china and japan here... (the speech bubble says 'you are very cool' if anyone is wondering) but other than that, great reaction . Would love to see you make a song called 'Frist Ian-pression' actually :P
@Insaneian4 жыл бұрын
"First Ian-pressions" was actually a video series I used to do about new-to-me things like games I hadn't played yet or TV shows (tho I only did one episode on a show). There's a playlist of them on my channel. And thanks for the heads up about the characters, I admit I haven't kept up on the lore, heh

Btw little correction about the accents Stupendium has done: As you've guessed it Demoman is canonically Scottish, and Heavy is Russian but the Spy is actually supposed to actually be French and Medic German Still even if you didn't get every reference (since you haven't played TF2 in a long time) it turned out to be a really enjoyable vid And yes people are still playing TF2 (myself included) thanks for the video Ian

Heavy is russian, and talks slower because english is his second language. Spy is french. Edit: Nvm, lol. So many people have said this, so ill say something else. Heavy mentions bullets because in the meet the heavy he mentions how others might be smarter than him, but not smaller than bullets. This is also why he respects medic, because medic outsmarted bullets. And why people ship them a lot.

I'm pretty sure "M.O." is "Main Objective"; however, since this is a video game song, and I'm not familiar with all the TF2 jargon - I play the game very infrequently. However, I simply play it for personal entertainment, not to win. "Natacha (or whatever that minigun's name is) go brrrrrrrr" basically. - so I could be completely wrong.
@Insaneian2 жыл бұрын
M.O. is a common military term meaning "modus operandi" or "mode of operations".
@icngames10324 жыл бұрын
Sadly, a lot of the references are lost if you don't know the extensive catalog of hats. A LOT of the lyrics reference cosmetics, or reference something about the character that isn't completely clear. "I'm a 100 degrees you'll get burned on Steam". Engi has dozens of degrees and the game is on.. well, Steam.
