Amazing the internal trim parts, door handle etc were not easy to source as these cars were so common back in the day ..A really gorgeous example of an 80's mass appeal car!

My late Dad owned a virtually identical Cavalier to that one back in the day. Proper time-warp example there.

I had 3 of these beauties way back in the 1990s loved every moment driving them. I still remember the registrations of all 3 and the colours of them. I'd certainly have another Cavalier today.

We owned a 1.8GLi version. It was quite a wolf in sheep's clothing for it's day yet was so economical as the gearbox ratios were different to the sportier variants. Wonderfully reliable car. Would love another.

Can confirm that! I had a 90 2.0 CDi and my mate bought an 89 2.0 GLi, a supposed lesser model but identical engine? He peed me off when one day, he flew past me on a motorway doing whatever speed, whilst I was sat at 60mph. I sped up to catch him, hit 115mph top speed, then he drove away from me! Later at my place, I consulted the Haynes manual, only to find, the engine was identical, but his had the SRi gearbox, that took him to 131mph! Definitely a wolf in sheep's clothing!

Nice condition. Needs those bits doing to make it perfect. I had a 1983 1.6GL hatchback version in the same china blue colour. Yours is the very first facelift version 1985 from the first mk2 being different grill, seats, gauge backing etc. They face lifted again in 1987 and then discontinued the mk2 in 1988. Mine had black velour seats, but same oil pressures gauge, battery gauge, rev gauge and electric mirrors as standard on GL models. Im sure those rear speakers should have a square cover over them and that they had small round holes in that cover for the sound to come out of. 4 speaker stereo as well which was a good feature back then. I had mine from 1986 to 2000 and it got upto 150,000 miles when i sold it. A great reliable confortable car it was. HUB 660Y.

I had quite a few mk2 cavaliers in the late 80s early 90s,most were ex company cars with FSH,the nicest one I had was a black E reg 1.6 GL saloon which was mint,I also had a few 2.0 CDI models which where lovely and quick, the 8V engine were bullet proof if maintained.

My mate bought a spotless pale blue Cav GL. He got it in the UK and drove it down to the South of France, where we were working. In our group we had a late Jag XJC 4.2 and my Alfa 164 V6. We planned to meet up at Flashman's Pub in Monaco. I was running late and turned into the carpark in the Alfa. SMASH!!! Straight into the driver's door of the Vauxhall just as he opened it. I did feel a fool. 🙄

Haven't seen a Mk2 Cavalier saloon or hatchback, or even a Mk3 Cavalier for some time. This one is nearly 40 with apt OLD or B-OLD (BOLD) London registration but looks brand new.

Couldn't zoom in but I seem to remember my Dad replacing the stereo on his brand new C reg company 1.6 GL saloon as although a factory fit digital tuner (which was a first on our driveway), it was AM only.

These were everywhere back in the day….except this variant wasn’t. The saloon was less popular than the hatchback and the automatic transmission version also very rare. This is the first one I’ve ever seen of that generation. My folks had a mk1 Astra in same colour…I believe it’s called China blue. These are all leaded engines, so be aware of that. The enemy of all these Vauxhall’s is rust, that under bumper metal scoop is very prone to stone chips which then turns to rust. Same on a mk1 Astra. I’m not sure if that automatic is a 4speed or a 3.

i ran several mk2 cavaliers as company cars from L to SRi. They were superb in their day. In 2004 i picked up an 85 B reg GL in bronze metallic. For £250! I ran it for commuting into Manchester for two years and sold it for £500. Wish I’d never sold it.

Nice car, desirable….not really, collectible…..as an oddity and nostalgia. At least the price isn’t rediculous, but I’d not want it so it’s irrelevant. Good luck with the sale as someone will.

@@stonecoldclassics1139 I knew a guy in the late 80s who had a Saab 9000 carlsson he bought it new from westcars in crow rd Glasgow he traveled abroad frequently and often went over the service mileage in order to maintain the warranty he would pay someone to give it a haircut. In the 3 yours of ownership this car had more haircuts than me. It also got traded in at westcars and got sold in their showroom as a genuine mileage Saab with complete service history and genuine mileage. On Mk 2 cavaliers steering wheels/mats/knobs/pedal rubbers were cheep to buy at the dealer and stone chips on the bonnets could skilfully be resprayed. Did this car belong to Mother Teresa?
